Jackie Appiah Biography and Career:

Jackie Appiah, a Ghanaian actress of Canadian descent, was born on December 5, 1983. She has won several acting accolades and received several nominations for her work. She won Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 2010 Africa Movie Academy Awards and Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2007.  She was also nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role and Best Upcoming Actress in Africa She is the fifth and final child. She was born in Toronto, making her a Canadian-Ghanaian. She was born and raised in Canada before moving to Ghana at the age of 10 with her mother.


She is most commonly referred to by her maiden name, Appiah. Appiah’s father, Kwabena Appiah, resides in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and is the younger brother of the late Joe Appiah, a well-known lawyer in Kumasi. It was rumored in 2020 that Jackie Appiah became pregnant for the Liberian president, George Weah. “Laughter that dispels lies and fabricated rumors,” Appiah wrote on her Instagram page in response to the rumor. Appiah’s appearances on television began to become routine after she received an invitation from Things We Do For Love author Edward Seddoh Junior, who cast her as Enyonam Blagogee.

She later appeared in Tentacles, Games People Play, Sun-city, and many other TV shows. She received the Best Upcoming Actress of the Year award in 2008 from the Africa Movie Academy.

She came in as the show’s first runner-up. She received the 2013 Papyrus Magazine Screen Actors Awards (PAMSAA) Best International Actress honor. which took place in Nigeria’s Abuja.[14]Despite her nerves, Appiah claims she was able to make an impression on everyone. “It was a Venus Film Production titled Divine Love and I had to play the character of Kate, the protagonist. I didn’t believe did very well. I stumbled but, many people did not notice it,” she recalls.

According to Appiah, her best performance was in Venus Films’ Mummy’s Daughter. She portrayed Princess, the daughter, in the movie that narrates the narrative of the Bartels family. Appiah currently thinks that the local film industry has improved because “I loved how I acted and I was delighted with the character I portrayed.” She believes that once it succeeds, others will notice.
