James Gandolfini Biography and Career:

James Gandolfini was an American actor who rose to fame for his role as the gangster Tony Soprano in the critically acclaimed television series ‘The Sopranos.’ During his career, Gandolfini portrayed the character of Tony Soprano. Although Gandolfini had been working in Hollywood since the 1980s and had played supporting roles in critically acclaimed films such as “Crimson Tide” and “True Romance,” it was his performance as Tony Soprano catapulted him to international fame.

His performance on the critically acclaimed HBO television series as a cold-blooded but conflicted gangster garnered several accolades, including three Emmys for outstanding actor in a television series. The program aired for six seasons, beginning in 1999, and is now primarily considered among the best of all time for television in the United States, both by fans and critics after Sopranos ended.

Gandolfini collaborated once again with HBO to produce a documentary on the post-traumatic stress disorders that veterans of the Iraq war experienced.
