His record of accomplishments as an astrophysicist is extensive, but it is the work he has done in the field of scientific communication that has made him the well-known figure he is today. During those years, he was the anchor of the educational news magazine known as “Nova Science Now,” which contributed to the audience’s comprehension of many scientific topics.

Over the course of his career, he developed into a popular scientific communicator, garnering admirers not just in the United States, but also from other countries across the globe. Not only is Tyson an exceptionally talented scientist, but he is also an outstanding presenter. In 2001, then-President of the United States George Bush selected Mr. Tyson to serve as a member of the 12-person panel that was established to investigate the future of the aerospace industry in the United States. Together with the other members, he played a crucial part in the release of the final report in 2002. This study featured suggestions for the government on how to maximize the potential of space exploration and national security in the future.

In 2004, he was given another appointment by President Bush to serve on a committee that was responsible for the implementation of the United States space exploration policy. The group had 9 members.
