At the time, Soon-Shiong was the CEO of NantHealth. By making this infrastructure and digital technologies, the goal was to make it easier for hospitals, medical research hubs, and sequencing centers to share genomic information. This would also speed up progress in cancer research and large-scale scientific projects like The Cancer Genome Atlas. In January 2013, he started another biotech company called NantOmics with the goal of making anti-cancer drugs based on protein kinase inhibitors.
Soon-Shiong said that NantWorks’ vision for the future of cancer treatment was the coming together of many different technologies to create a state without disease and keep it that way.
