Rhys Darby Biography and Career:

Rhys Montague Darby is a New Zealand-born actor and comedian born on the 21st of March 1974. He is most known for his high-energy physical comedy acts, in which he tells tales accompanied by mime and sound effects of things like machinery and animals. In 2001 and 2002, he was considered for a Billy T Award nomination.

Additionally, he was awarded the Fred (Dagg) prize in 2012 for the best New Zealand show at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival. In the television series Flight of the Conchords, Darby played the role of Murray Hewitt, the band manager. He had previously played this role in the BBC radio series under the name Brian Nesbit. Darby is also known for playing the boss of Jim Carrey’s character in Yes Man and roles in What We Do in the Shadows.

A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Boat That Rocked, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Voltron: Legendary Defender, and Psycho Sam in Hunt for the Wilderpeople are some of the movies that have been nominated. In the movie “Yes Man,” Darby portrayed the part of Norman, the guy Jim Carrey’s character worked for.

In a Nike commercial that starred Roger Federer and aired in July of 2008, he portrayed the role of a fake tennis instructor who pretended to be Federer’s real mentor. He appeared on the program during the inaugural season of the British children’s television show The Slammer. Additionally, he was featured in several advertisements for the mobile phone firm 2degrees, which is based in New Zealand.

On October 18, 2008, he was a guest on Soccer AM, and on October 23, 2008, he appeared on Never Mind the Buzzcocks. The live performance of Imagine That! Captured on DVD has been certified as platinum in New Zealand. In addition, he shot the pilot episode of The Fun Police, a comedy that was to air on Channel 4 in the UK, in May of 2011. On September 16th, the pilot episode was shown on television.

In 2011, Darby and his family made the trip from Australia to the United States so that Darby could participate in the comedy How to Be a Gentleman on CBS. On December 12th, 2011, Darby’s second DVD, “It’s Rhys Darby Night!” was available in New Zealand. He is the author of an “autobiographical space novel” named This Way to Spaceship, published on April 12th, 2012.

The New Zealand International Comedy Festival bestowed the Fred Award to Darby on May 20, 2012, for his performance in a show titled after his book of the same name. In 2013, he got ‘Cornish rappers Hedluv + Passman to the New Zealand International Comedy Festival in New Zealand. After this, he appeared on Seven Sharp, during which he presented ‘his rappers’ to the general population of New Zealand.
