Richard L. Rosenthal, Jr. is a well-known American film lecturer and filmmaker born June 15, 1949. He is well known for directing the films Halloween II and Halloween: Resurrection. Rosenthal was born in New York City. His mother, Hinda (née Gould), and his father, Richard L. Rosenthal, Sr., were successful businesspeople.
Rosenthal began his career as a director by directing Halloween II. Twenty-one years later, he returned to the series to make his second installment, Halloween: Resurrection. He has produced several films in the intervening years, including American Dreamer (1984), Russkies (1987), Distant Thunder (1988), and Just a Little Harmless Sex (1998), among others.
Additionally, he was the co-executive producer of the groundbreaking television series Life Goes On for ABC, produced by Warner Bros. and aired from 1989 to 1991.
