Robert Kraft Biography and Career:

Robert Kenneth Kraft is an American businessman who has done well for himself. He was born on June 5, 1941. The Kraft Group is a holding company that he is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. It has interests in paper and packaging, sports and entertainment, real estate development, and a private equity portfolio.

His sports assets include the NFL’s New England Patriots, Major League Soccer’s New England Revolution, and Gillette Stadium, where both of these teams play. Kraft’s first home was in Brookline, Massachusetts. Harry Kraft, his father, was a tailor in Boston’s Chinatown. He was also a respected Jewish lay leader at Congregation Kehillath Israel in Brookline, and he wanted his son to become a rabbi like him. The Krafts were very religious and lived a very strict Orthodox Jewish life. Robert grew up in Brookline, Massachusetts. He went to the Edward Devotion School there for his education. He graduated from Brookline High School in 1959, where he led his senior class as president.

When Robert Kraft was in high school, he couldn’t play most sports because they interfered with his Hebrew studies after school and his observance of the Sabbath. He got a scholarship to go to Columbia University, where he ended up becoming the class president. During his time at Columbia, Kraft was a member of the Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity and played running back and safety on the school’s freshman and lightweight football teams. On February 2, 1962, Myra Hiatt and Robert Kraft met for the first time in a deli in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood.

In June of 1963, they got married. Robert Kraft got his bachelor’s degree from Columbia University and his master’s degree in business administration from Harvard Business School in the same year. Kraft was 27 years old when he was elected chairman of the Newton Democratic City Committee. He thought about it for a while, but in 1970, he decided not to run against Representative Philip J. Philbin of Massachusetts’s Third Congressional District.

He said that he didn’t want to go into politics because it would have cost him his privacy and put pressure on his family. The fact that his close friend and state representative H. James Shea Jr. hurt himself was another thing that kept him from running for office. Jacob Hiatt, Kraft’s father-in-law, hired him at the packaging company Rand-Whitney Group in Worcester. This was the start of Kraft’s professional life. In 1968, Kraft took over the company with the help of a leveraged buyout.

He stays in his role as the company’s chairman. In 1972, he set up International Forest Products as a broker for paper commodities. When you add the two companies together, you get the biggest privately owned paper and packaging company in the US. Kraft has said that he started the company because he had a feeling that the growth of international communications and transportation in the late 20th century would lead to a rise in international trade.

International Forest Products became one of the top 100 US exporters/importers in 1997. In 2013, the Journal of Commerce’s list of the top 100 exporters/importers in this category put them at No. 20. In 1991, Kraft said this about the business: We do things for a lot of companies, like Avon, Kodak, cosmetics companies, candy companies, and toy companies.

The company made both corrugated and folding cartons, which he said: “are used to package everything from the Patriot missile to mints to Estee Lauder, Indiana Glass, and Polaroid.” Kraft bought into other businesses and, in 1998, made the Kraft Group as an umbrella for all of them. Kraft put money into New England Television Corp., which bought WNAC-TV in 1982. In 1983, Kraft joined the board as a director. After that, it changed its name to WNEV-TV. In 1986, the company made him its president. In 1991, Mr.

Kraft decided to sell his shares in the company, which he did for about $25 million. In 1974, Kraft and five others bought the Boston Lobsters, a World Team Tennis team (WTT). The company spent a lot of money to get some of the best tennis players in the world, like Martina Navratilova, to join. As a result, the Lobsters became one of the best teams in the WTT.

After the 1978 campaign, Kraft said that the franchise would no longer be available. Soon after that, the league itself went out of business. After the Boston Lobsters went out of business, Robert Kraft tried twice to buy the New England Patriots, but both times he failed. The first of these bids were made to the bankrupt Sullivan family, who had owned the team before 1988.

There were also rumors that Kraft might want to buy the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Celtics. Kraft has liked the Patriots ever since they were in the American Football League. Kraft bought season tickets when the Patriots moved into what was then called Schafer Stadium in 1971. Next to the stadium is the Foxboro Raceway, which is a horse track.

In 1985, Kraft bought a 10-year option on the track. Because of the purchase, Patriots owner Billy Sullivan couldn’t use Sullivan Stadium for anything other than Patriots games while races were being held there. Kraft was able to take advantage of the fact that the Sullivan family only owned the stadium and not the land around it. It was the first step towards trying to buy not only the stadium but also the Patriots football team.

The Jackson Five 1984 Victory Tour was the biggest failure for Sullivan’s family. They had to put up Sullivan Stadium as security in order to get money for this project. Because of all of these problems, Sullivan was forced to sell the majority of his shares to Victor Kiam in 1988. But in the end, the stadium went bankrupt and had to close.
