Steve Wozniak Biography and Career:

Stephen Gary Wozniak is an American electronics engineer, programmer, philanthropist, and tech entrepreneur. He is better known by his nickname “Woz.” Stephen Gary Wozniak is his full name, and he was born on August 11, 1950. In 1976, he was one of the people who started Apple Inc., which went on to become the most profitable IT company in the world and the biggest company in the world by market capitalization. Most people agree that his work at Apple in the 1970s and 1980s, along with that of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, made them two of the most important people in the personal computer revolution. Jobs was the first person to work at Apple.

In 1975, Wozniak started making the Apple I computer. The next year, he and Jobs sold it for the first time, and this was the start of the Apple company. Wozniak and Jobs started Apple together. In 1977, he was mostly responsible for making the Apple II, which is known as one of the first microcomputers that did well when made in large numbers. At the same time, Steve Jobs oversaw the making of the case out of foam-molded plastic, and Rod Holt, an early Apple employee, made the switching power supply.

Wozniak and software engineer Jef Raskin had a big impact on the early development of the first Apple Macintosh ideas from 1979 until 1981 when Jobs took over the project after Wozniak left the company for a short time after a traumatic plane crash. Jobs took over the project after Wozniak left the company for a short time. This led to Wozniak leaving the company.

Wozniak left Apple for good in 1985 and went on to start CL 9 and design the first programmable universal remote, which went on sale the next year. After that, he worked on a variety of business and charity projects for the rest of his life, focusing mostly on bringing technology into elementary, middle, and high schools. Since 1985, when he retired, Wozniak has kept working for Apple in a ceremonial role, and he will do so until at least November 2019.

Steve Wozniak was the son of Margaret Louise Wozniak (nee Kern) (1923–2014) from Washington state and Francis Jacob “Jerry” Wozniak (1925–1994) from Michigan. Steve Wozniak was born in San Jose, California, and grew up there. His mother was from the state of Washington, and his father was from the state of Michigan. Jerry Wozniak, who would later become Steve Wozniak’s father, worked for Lockheed Corporation as an engineer. In 1968, he received his diploma from Homestead High School, which was located in Cupertino, California. On his birth certificate, Wozniak’s name is written as Stephen Gary Wozniak.

However, Wozniak’s mother has said that she wanted her son’s name to be spelled “Stephen,” and Wozniak himself spells his name this way. Wozniak has said that his last name is Polish and has talked about his Polish roots more than once. In the early 1970s, Wozniak’s blue box design was so well known in the hacking world that it gave him the nickname “Berkeley Blue.” Wozniak said in an interview that he got the idea for Apple Inc. from watching the science fiction TV show Star Trek as a kid and going to conventions about it.

In 1968, Wozniak moved back to the San Francisco Bay Area after being kicked out of the University of Colorado Boulder for hacking the school’s computer system and sending prank messages on it. This was after he was punished for what he had done. After dropping out of De Anza College in Cupertino, he went to the University of California, Berkeley, where he finished his education in 1971.

Wozniak built his first computer with the help of his friend Bill Fernandez in June 1971. It was an experiment in self-education. They made it with a punch card and 20 TTL chips that a friend gave them. They called it “Cream Soda” after their favorite drink. Before there were good microprocessors, displays, or keyboards, this was the case. A reporter for a newspaper stepped on the power cord and broke the computer, but Wozniak says that the experience was “a nice prelude to my thinking” when he made the Apple I and Apple II computers five years later.

He used to work for Hewlett-Packard (HP), where he was in charge of designing calculators, but now he puts all of his attention on Apple. During this time, he decided not to keep going to school at UC Berkeley and started hanging out with Steve Jobs. Fernandez, who went to Homestead High School with Jobs in 1971, was the one who put Wozniak in touch with Jobs for the first time. Jobs worked at HP during the summer, where Wozniak also worked. This time, Jobs worked on a mainframe computer. Jobs and Wozniak became friends at this time.

Later that year, Wozniak read an article called “Secrets of the Little Blue Box” in the October 1971 issue of Esquire. This article gave him the idea to start making his own “blue boxes,” which were devices that let people make free long-distance phone calls. This was the first time they worked together in business.

Jobs was in charge of selling the blue boxes. He was able to sell about 200 of them for $150 each, and he and Wozniak split the money they made. After he died, Steve Jobs told his biographer that he once told Wozniak that without his blue boxes, “there wouldn’t have been an Apple.” Jobs got his start in the video game business when he started working at Atari, Inc. in Los Gatos, California, in 1973.
