Temuera Morrison Biography and Career:

Temuera Derek Morrison is an actor who is well-known in New Zealand, which is where he was born and raised. after completing training in theatre that was provided by the New Zealand Special Performing Arts Training Scheme (NZSPATS). It is generally agreed that one of his earliest roles as a leading man was in the 1988 film Never Say Die, in which he also starred alongside Lisa Eilbacher.

The novel of the same name written by Alan Duff was turned into a movie called Once Were Warriors. In the film adaptation of Once Were Warriors, he played the part of Jake “The Muss” Heke, a violent and abusive Maori husband, and in 1994, he received a lot of attention for his performance in that role. The movie went on to become the most successful locally produced film that had ever been released in New Zealand, and it was eventually sold to a number of countries internationally.

As a result of his work in the role, he received recognition on a scale that spanned the globe, in addition to the award for outstanding male performance in a dramatic role at the 1994 New Zealand Film and Television Awards. The New Zealand Film Awards named him the Best Actor for his performance in the film’s sequel, What Becomes of the Broken Hearted?, for which he also appeared as the same character.

The award was given to him in recognition of his work in that film. In spite of the praise he received for his performance, Morrison stated in 2010 that he felt typecast by the role, going so far as to compare it to “a millstone around my neck.” He made this statement despite the fact that he had received praise for his performance. Morrison played the role of Marlon Brando’s on-screen counterpart in the 1996 movie “The Island of Dr. Moreau,” which was released in theatres.

His film credits include Speed 2: Cruise Control (1997) and The Beautiful Country (1999), in both which he played a supporting role. Both of these films were directed by John Hughes (2004). In 1988, he was given the opportunity to showcase his comedic abilities in the film Never Say Die, which was a parody of the James Bond movies. Morrison took over as host of the New Zealand-based television talk show The Tem Show in the year 2005.

The Tem Show is broadcast in New Zealand. Morrison was honored with a place as a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit as part of the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 1996. This honor was bestowed upon him in recognition of the significant contributions he had made to the performing arts. In 2009, he made the decision to start writing an autobiography, the goal of which was to inspire readers to “aim for the stars.”

He began writing the book in that year. Late in the month of November in 2014, Sony Music Entertainment New Zealand distributed his debut studio album, titled Tem, which marked the beginning of his career. This album features cover versions of songs that his father and uncle Sir Howard Morrison used to perform at local venues when he was a child. The album was named after Sir Howard Morrison.

His rise to fame can be attributed, in large part, to Morrison’s work in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, in which he played the notorious bounty hunter Jango Fett (2002). Not only did Morrison provide the voice acting for the clones, but he also contributed to the plot of the movie, which involves an army of clones created with Jango’s DNA as their source material.  In the film Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, he reappeared as a number of clones.

Additionally, he re-recorded the lines of the character Boba Fett (Jango’s “son”) and another clone for the DVD re-releases of the original Star Wars trilogy that were released in 2004, replacing the voice of Jason Wingreen in those films. Most recently, he rose to prominence for his role as Chief Tui in the Disney film Moana, in which he played the role of the protagonist’s father. Moana was produced by Disney (2016). In the upcoming films Aquaman 1 and 2, which are being produced by Warner Bros., Morrison will play the role of Aquaman’s biological father.
