Ben Stokes Biography and Career:

Ben Stokes is one of the most explosive all-rounders of the contemporary age, and his enthusiasm for the game is contagious on the cricket field. It’s impossible to be bored with him since he is incredibly enthusiastic about whatever he does, and his forceful personality ensures that there are never any boring moments. Stokes is an aggressive southpaw with a tendency for big knocks who is also capable of putting together a large inning. He is also as adept with the ball. He has the ability to bowl at a reasonably fast pace and has a tendency for creating breakthroughs when his team’s other options have failed them.

Benjamin Andrew Stokes was born on June 4, 1991, in Christchurch, New Zealand, and is the son of former New Zealand rugby league player Gerald Stokes, who represented his country in international rugby leagues. His outstanding potential was evident from an early age, and it came as no surprise when, at the age of 18, he signed a two-year county contract with Durham County Football Club. On his one-day debut against Surrey in 2009, he commemorated the occasion by snaring Mark Ramprakash with his third delivery in FC game, which was the first time he had done so.

He represented his country in two youth Tests against Bangladesh, and he performed well with both the bat and the ball. His abilities were further recognized in the 2010 Under-19 World Cup when he scored a century against India. In 2010, he made his FC debut in the season opener against the MCC in Abu Dhabi, where he scored his maiden fifty and also picked up a wicket in the process.

Stokes’s steady performances propelled him into national consideration, and it came as no surprise when he was picked to the England One-Day International team for the one-off match against Ireland and the three-match home series against India. Because of a fractured finger, he was limited to playing exclusively as a batter.

He struggled against India in the one-day international series and was thus omitted from the following away tour of India to the Middle East. Having recovered from his acute injury, Ben Stokes had an outstanding season, scoring 827 runs and taking 37 wickets at an average of 21.47 while scoring an impressive 827 runs. His outstanding all-around performance earned him the distinction of being tipped as the man who would ultimately replace the all-position rounder left vacant by Freddie Flintoff’s departure from international cricket.

Stokes was expected to be nominated to the England lions development squad for the next tour of Australia, but in a terrible twist of fate, he was sent home, along with Kent pacer Matt Coles, for numerous breaches of discipline and unethical behavior.

Stokes expressed his regret for his reckless behavior and expressed his desire to return to first-class cricket in the future. In the wake of his phenomenal exploits during Durham’s championship-winning campaign, he underwent recuperation and subsequently secured the third seamer’s spot for the One-dayers against Australia, which he will play in. As a result of his first 5-for, although in a losing cause, Ben Stokes was named in the 17-member team for the 2013-14 Ashes tour of Australia, which would take place in the following year.

Stokes made his Test debut in the second match, and he followed it up with a stunning maiden Test hundred in the third match. Stokes hit 47 runs in the first innings of the fifth Test, including a six-for in the first innings, to help England reach 155 for six in the first innings of the fifth Test. Despite England’s humbling 5-0 whitewash, Stokes had a tremendous series, finishing as the second-highest wicket-taker with 15 wickets and the third-highest run-getter with 279 runs for the hosts.

Stokes’ form stayed more or less consistent throughout the One-Day International series as well. After beginning the series on a subdued note, he smashed his first One-Day International half-century in the fourth ODI and claimed four wickets as England secured their first and only competitive victory in Australia in nine games. His outstanding achievements in Australia helped him earn a spot on England’s side for the upcoming tour to the West Indies.

Unfortunately, when expressing his dissatisfaction with getting dismissed cheaply in a Twenty20 International against the West Indies, he damaged his hand beating on a dressing room door and was ruled out of the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh the following year.

A thrill-a-minute century against New Zealand at Lord’s in a Test match, after a spate of poor scores and a temporary exclusion from the England side, Stokes demonstrated his class and talent with a thrilling century. Additionally, he was in excellent form against Australia at Trent Bridge, when he picked up a five-for to help the hosts retain the Ashes. Stokes scored the quickest double tonne by an Englishman in Test cricket on the tour of South Africa. He did it at Cape Town, where he played with flair and fizz.

Unfortunately, he was on the receiving end of Carlos Brathwaite’s wide willow during the World Twenty20 tournament in India, when he was whacked for four sixes in the last over of the match at the Eden Gardens. As the West Indies won the championship, Stokes was devastated. A knee injury occurred later on in Stokes’ career while he was playing in a Test against Sri Lanka in Leeds.
