In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on July 12, 1937, William Henry Cosby Jr. became the world-famous comedian known as Bill Cosby. His father, William Henry Cosby Sr., served in the United States Navy as a mess steward, while his mother, Anna Pearl, was employed in the service industry.
