Boston Bruins Biography and Career:
The Boston Bruins are a professional ice hockey club located in Boston, Massachusetts. They compete in the National Hockey League. They are a member of the National Hockey League’s Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference, where they play in the NHL (NHL). The club has been in existence since 1924 when it became the first American-based expansion franchise to join the National Football League.
They are also a member of the Original Six, which includes the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Detroit Red Wings, the New York Rangers, the Montreal Canadiens, and the Chicago Blackhawks, among others. Their home venue is the 17,565-seat TD Garden, where they have played since 1995, after the team’s departure from the Boston Garden, which had been their home for 86 years.
The Boston Bruins were the first American club to compete in the National Hockey League when they were founded in 1924. The Bruins had success very early in their history, winning the 1929 Stanley Cup against the New York Rangers in the first Stanley Cup finals to include two American teams in the history of the sport.

To the end of his career, Orr was the most popular player on the Boston Bruins, earning three league Most Valuable Player (MVP) honors (1970–72) and guiding the club to another Stanley Cup championship in 1972.
Defenseman Ray Bourque, who would go on to become a future Hall of Famer, joined the Boston Bruins in 1979 and soon established himself as the organization’s new face, remaining with the team for almost two decades. As indicated by their NHL-record 29 consecutive playoff appearances between 1968 and 1996, the Bruins were a regular contender throughout this time period, although they were sometimes overshadowed by teams.
After going through a run of seasons from 1997–98 to 2007–08 in which the Bruins were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs in five of their six postseason appearances, the club returned to the Stanley Cup finals for the first time in 20 years in 2010–11 after a 20-year hiatus.
The Boston Bruins beat the Vancouver Canucks in seven games to win their sixth Stanley Cup, thanks to the remarkable performance of goalkeeper Tim Thomas, who established a finals record by making 238 saves over the course of the series. The Boston Bruins returned to the Stanley Cup finals in 2012–13 but were defeated by the Chicago Blackhawks in six games.
The Boston Bruins had the best record in the NHL during the 2013–14 season but were ousted in the second round of the playoffs. As time went on, the club maintained its winning record while making little progress in the playoffs, even when it qualified. This season, Boston finally broke through, going to the Stanley Cup playoffs behind Tuukka Rask’s excellent goaltender performance.
They would go on to win the Eastern Conference Finals in four games against the Carolina Hurricanes, earning the Prince of Wales Trophy and qualifying for their third appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals in ten years. In a repeat of the 1970 Stanley Cup Finals, they met the St. Louis Blues in St. Louis, Missouri. The Blues, on the other hand, would come out on top this time, winning in only seven games.
On a continuous basis throughout the 2019–20 season, the Boston Bruins finished first or second in the Atlantic Division and were near or at the top of the league. Two players from the Anaheim Ducks, Ondrej Kase and Nick Ritchie were acquired by the team at the trade deadline in two different transactions.

The NHL season was halted on March 12, 2020, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. At the time of the stoppage, the Bruins were in first place in the league with 100 points, putting them in first place overall. After the conclusion of the regular season on May 26, Commissioner Gary Bettman stated that the league will restart with the playoffs, which would begin on June 1.
The Bruins were awarded the Presidents’ Trophy for the second time in a decade, and David Pastrnak became the first Bruin to win the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy, which he shared with Alexander Ovechkin, thanks to his 48 goals in the season’s last game.
