Brian Wilson Biography and Career:

Brian Wilson was the eldest of three boys to be born to Audree Neva (née Korthof) and Murry Wilson. He was born on June 20, 1942, at Centinela Hospital in Inglewood, California, and he was the oldest of three sons. The original motivation for him, as well as his brothers Dennis and Carl, came from their father, who was both a musician and a mechanic. Their father was an inventor. His ancestry may be traced back to the Netherlands, England, Germany, Ireland, and Sweden.

Wilson had already begun to display his musical skill even before he was one year old. His father said that not only was his kid very bright but that he could also sing the tune to “When the Caissons Go Rolling Along.” A little over a year later, he was exposed to George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” for the first time. This piece of music would go on to have a significant influence on his feelings. When Wilson was just two years old, his family uprooted their lives and moved from Inglewood to Hawthorne.

After a few years had passed, he began to have severe hearing loss in his right ear. Although the precise reason for this is still unknown, there are a number of hypotheses that have been put forward to explain it. These hypotheses range from the possibility that he was simply born with the defect to the possibility that the hearing loss was the result of abuse at the hands of his father or a bully from the neighborhood.
Murry was a solid provider for his family; yet, he had a bad habit of abusing his children by hitting them. He was never able to achieve anything noteworthy in the field of music, but because to his gifted children, he was able to live out his ambitions in a way that was almost as satisfying.

Wilson received his education at Hawthorne High School, where he participated in the cross-country running, basketball, and baseball programs. He was talented in singing and playing a variety of instruments. A musical group is known as Carl and the Passions was founded by him, his brothers, and their cousin Mike. They played at an autumn arts event under the name Carl and the Passions. Jardine, who would eventually become a member of the collective, was there as a member of the audience for this particular presentation.

In September of 1960, immediately after his graduation from high school, he enrolled at El Camino College with the intention of earning a degree in psychology while also continuing his musical education. In 1961, he came up with his first original tune, which he attributed to being influenced by the rendition of “When You Wish Upon a Star” performed by Dion and the Belmonts. It was later transformed into the song “Surfer Girl,” which was included on the band’s third album, and was also given the same name as the song.

Initial performances by Brian Wilson and his band were given the name the Pendletones, and Candix Records was responsible for the release of their debut single, titled “Surfin.” However, without obtaining permission from any of the band members, Candix Records changed the band’s name to the Beach Boys.
After experiencing some financial difficulties, Candix Records was forced to sell the band’s master recordings to another record company.

As a result, the chart position of the song ‘Surfin’ started to decline over the course of many weeks. At the time, Murry was the band’s manager, and he was the one who decided to end the band’s agreement with the record company. In the end, the band decided to sign with Capitol Records, and on October 1, 1962, via that label, they published their first album, which was titled “Surfin’ Safari.” It was successful, climbing up the charts in the United States all the way to position no. 32 at one time.

The next month in 1963 saw the publication of the album titled “Surfin’ U.S.A.” It was their debut album, and the RIAA awarded it the Gold certification. After then, they became a well-known name throughout the country. ‘Surfer Girl’ (1963), ‘Little Deuce Coupe’ (1963), ‘Shut Down Volume 2’ (1964), ‘All Summer Long’ (1964), ‘The Beach Boys’ Christmas Album’ (1964), and ‘The Beach Boys Today!’ were among the eight albums that the Beach Boys released between 1963 and 1966. ‘Surfer Girl’ (1963), ‘Little Deuce Coupe’ (1963), and ‘Shut Down Volume 2’ (1964 (1965). Pet Sounds, the band’s sixth studio album, was released on May 16, 1966, and it is widely considered to be their best work to date.

Following the release of ‘Pet Sounds,’ Wilson started to get praise for being a genius, a view that was first spread among the band’s pals who worked in the music business. Their publicist, Derek Taylor, eventually picked up on it and ran with it. Wilson was left in a state of severe depression as a result of the band’s decision to abandon their subsequent project, which they had referred to as “an adolescent symphony to God.” After some time, a streamlined version of it was made available under the name “Smiley Smile.” Wilson had begun to urge people to take increasingly major parts in the creative process by the time they were working on their 13th album, which was titled “Wild Honey.”

Wilson was a chronic user of drugs and alcohol. In addition to his consistent use of amphetamines, marijuana, and psychedelics, he also began using cocaine. Wilson checked himself into a psychiatric facility in the late 1960s in order to get treatment for his mental illness. While he was there, he was given dosages of lithium and participated in electroconvulsive therapy. The Beach Boys were in serious financial straits at the time. They continued to produce albums, but the albums consistently failed to meet with commercial success. They were dismissed by Capitol Records in 1969, and subsequently signed a deal with Reprise Records, which had just been created at the time.
