Bruno Mars Biography and Career:
He was given the name Peter Gene Hernandez when he was born on the 8th of October, 1985, in Honolulu, Hawaii. His father, Peter Hernandez, was a Latin percussionist, and his mother, Bernadette “Bernie” San Pedro Bayot, was a singer and dancer in the San Pedro Bayot family. As a child, he was known by the nickname “Bruno.” He is the youngest of five siblings. From an early age, his parents exposed him to a wide range of musical styles and genres. Because both of his parents were professional actors, he had a natural affinity for the performing arts from a young age.
When Bruno was three years old, one of his uncles, who was an Elvis impersonator, persuaded him to go on stage and perform for the audience. After a few months, he began performing with his family band and quickly garnered recognition in his community for his mimicry of the late Elvis Presley. He went to President Theodore Roosevelt High School, where he graduated in 2003 with a degree in political science. He used to be a member of a group known as The School Boys, which used to perform while he was at school.
Previously, he was romantically involved with singer and actress Rita Ora, whom he met for the first time in 2009. The pair, however, separated in 2011 due to the demands of their jobs. In 2011, he began a relationship with model Jessica Caban. Bruno Mars is estimated to have a net worth of $70 million dollars. He has established a GRAMMY Camp Scholarship Fund in collaboration with the Hawai’i Community Foundation and the GRAMMY Foundation in order to provide financial help to the next generation of music makers.
Immediately following graduation, Bruno Mars relocated to Los Angeles, California, in order to pursue a musical career. It was around this period that he began using the stage name “Bruno Mars.” Though his signing to Motown Records in 2004 proved to be unsuccessful, it provided him with the opportunity to meet the songwriter and producer Phillip Lawrence, who was also signed to the same company at the time of his meeting with Lawrence.
In 2006, Lawrence introduced Mars to Aaron Bay-Schuck, who would go on to become his future A&R manager at Atlantic Records. Soon after, he was signed to Atlantic Records, and his professional career took off from there. Besides pursuing a singing career, Bruno Mars teamed with Philip Lawrence and Ari Levine in 2009 to form the songwriting and record production duo, The Smeezingtons, which he co-founded with Lawrence and Levine.
Since its beginnings, the squad has gained widespread recognition and has been in high demand. As a result of their collaborations with a variety of singers, the team has garnered numerous mainstream honors, including the ASCAP Pop Music Awards for Songwriters. ‘Just the Way You Are’ was his first solo single, published in July 2010, and it was taken from his debut studio album, ‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans,’ which was released a few months later, in October.
Billboard Hot 100 charted the song at No. 1 in the United States. In addition to being hailed as “the year’s finest pop debut,” the album propelled Bruno Mars to international success. Unorthodox Jukebox, his highly anticipated second studio album, was released in December 2012 to critical acclaim. With the album’s lead single, “Locked Out of Heaven,” Taylor Swift achieved massive international success.
The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive weeks and reached the Top 10 in 20 countries, making it a significant international hit. This album, like the previous one, was a critical and commercial success. He embarked on a tour in June 2013 in response to the phenomenal popularity of his album, which was dubbed The Moonshine Jungle Tour. Beginning in North America, he journeyed to Europe and Oceania before returning to North America in October 2014 to complete his journey.
In addition to selling over 45 million singles worldwide, his debut album ‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans’ has been certified 39x platinum in multiple countries. It includes the smash singles “Just the Way You Are,” “The Lazy Song,” and “Count On Me.” It was released in 1989. The album opened at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in the United States and later peaked at No. 1. Music critics have also given it positive ratings as well.
