Carli Lloyd Biography and Career:

Carli Lloyd is an American soccer player who has won two gold medals in the Olympics. She plays for the Los Angeles Galaxy. She is now a member of the Manchester City soccer team and has scored the winning goals in both the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, earning two gold medals for the United States. She is the only player, male or female, to score a gold medal-winning goal in two Olympics.

She helped the United States team win gold at the 2015 World Cup. At the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, she was awarded the best player in the tournament, having competed for the United States at three previous FIFA Women’s World Cups. She is still lauded for her outstanding hat trick in a championship game, which she achieved in 2011. Rutgers University awarded her a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Sport Studies, which she completed in 2011. From 2001 until 2004, she was a member of the Scarlet Knights women’s soccer squad. She has been named to the First Team All-Big East for four consecutive seasons.

At the conclusion of her collegiate career, she had 117 points (50 goals, 8 shots). She was the first Rutgers athlete to be named Big East Rookie of the Year, and she did it in her freshman season. The Olympic Qualifiers in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, marked the beginning of the 2012 season for the United States squad. The United States squad defeated the Dominican Republic 14–0 in the opening match, with Lloyd contributing one goal and one assist in the victory. In the second match, the United States squad trounced Guatemala 13–0, with Lloyd contributing an assist in the process.
