Chevy Chase Biography and Career:

Cornelius Crane Chase, the son of Edward Tinsley “Ned” Chase and Cathalene Parker, was born on October 8, 1943, in New York City, New York, USA. He was the son of Edward Tinsley Chase and Cathalene Parker. His grandmother dubbed him “Chevy Chase” because of his appearance. His father worked as a book editor and magazine writer in Manhattan, while his mother worked as a concert pianist and librettist in the same city as him. The family was originally from the Lower Manhattan neighbourhood of New York City.

In accordance with a widely circulated urban legend, Chase was dismissed from high school. In an interview, he stated, however, that he had dropped out of school due to academic concerns. In 1967, he graduated from ‘Bard College’ with a B.A. in English, having finished his pre-medical studies. When Chase and his friends Walter Becker and Donald Fagen decided not to attend medical school, they established a jazz band they termed the “a horrible jazz band. ” Before discovering his actual calling, he worked at a variety of odd jobs to supplement his income.

After marrying Suzanne Chase in 1973, they later separated and moved on. He married Jacqueline Carlin three years after they met. This marriage was also terminated by divorce. In 1982, he tied the knot with Jayni Luke. He and his wife, Jayni, are the parents of three daughters: Cydney Cathalene, Caley Leigh, and Emily Evelyn. His present residence is Bedford, New York, where he resides with his wife, Jayni. Chase was actively involved in fund-raising activities for the presidential campaigns of Bill Clinton and John Kerry, as well as other candidates.

In addition to writing the first season of ‘Saturday Night Live,’ this American actor and comedian became a significant member of the show’s cast in the following seasons. In 1967, he was a founding member of the comedic group ‘Channel One.’ He was a member of the ambitious rock band ‘Chameleon Church,’ where he played drums and keyboards. Before disbanding in 1969, the band released only one studio album, entitled “The Last Waltz.” Following his musical career, he created a satire of the film ‘Mission: Impossible for the magazine ‘MAD.’

In 1973, he was cast in the off-Broadway play of ‘Lemmings,’ which was produced by National Lampoon. From 1973 to 1974, he was a cast member of ‘The National Lampoon Radio Hour,’ in which he appeared alongside John Belushi, Bill Murray, and Gilda Radner, among other celebrities. Chase was hired as a writer for NBC’s ‘Saturday Night Live’ in 1975, and he worked there for a year. He eventually rose through the ranks to become a member of the show’s main cast. Chase was on his way to Hollywood less than a year later.

After that, he was nominated for a ‘Golden Globe’ for his feature film debut, ‘Foul Play,’ which was released in 1978. Chase appeared in the film ‘Modern Problems,’ which was released in 1980. He almost dodged electrocution while filming the incident. His performance in ‘Caddyshack,’ a sports comedy film, was also released the same year. “National Lampoon’s Vacation” (1983), the first instalment in the “National Lampoon” series, proved to be a watershed moment in his professional life. Chase then began working for the company ‘Fletch’ in 1985.

As the first film version of Gregory Mcdonald’s “Fletch” book series, it was a critical and commercial success. Around 1987 and 1988, he reached the pinnacle of his professional success and began charging exorbitant fees for his services. He and his friend Simon were both featured in the song ‘You Can Call Me Al,’ which was written for him. In 1987 and 1988, he was also the host of the Academy Awards.

When Chase started working on the sequels to his ‘National Lampoon’ series in 1988, they were titled “National Lampoon’s European Vacation” and “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” respectively. He had a setback in the 1990s, when films like “Nothing But Trouble,” “Memoirs of an Invisible Man,” and “Cops & Robbersons” didn’t perform well at the box office, which hampered his career. In 1993, Chase was the host of the syndicated talk show ‘The Chevy Chase Show.’

The show, which was produced by the “Fox Broadcasting Company,” was taken off the air after five weeks. In 1995, Chase made a successful comeback with the picture ‘Man of the House,’ which performed significantly better at the box office than any of his prior films had done. The actor returned to television after nearly a decade away from the medium. In 2009, he starred as a tycoon named ‘Pierce Hawthorne’ in the comedy series ‘Community,’ in which he played the character of a businessman.

In 2010, he appeared in the films ‘Hot Tub Time Machine’ and ‘Funny or Die.’ Chase performed the role of President Ford in the latter, which was a short internet film that was released in 2013. His departure from the comedy series ‘Community’ in 2012 was attributed to creative issues with the show’s director. He made a cameo appearance in the season five premiere, which marked his comeback to the show.
