Chris Jericho Biography and Career:
Chris Irvine was born in Manhasset, New York, on November 9, 1970, to Loretta Vivian and Edward Amos “Ted” Irvine. He is the son of Loretta Vivian and Ted Irvine. His father, a former NHL hockey player who played for the Boston Bruins, Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers, and St. Louis Blues between 1963 and 1977, is a retired NHL hockey player. Irvine’s father is of Scottish heritage, and he has a sister named Vanessa who is also of Scottish descent. He grew up in front of the television, watching wrestling matches.
In addition to Owen Hart, Jericho lists Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat and Shawn Michaels as boyhood heroes who influenced his career. When he was employed as a ring-crew member for the newly formed Keystone Wrestling Alliance company, he had his first taste of what it was like to work for a wrestling promotion. He credits his involvement with the KWA with providing him with a solid foundation for his initial grasp of the industry. During a visit to Tampa, Florida, Chris Jericho met Jessica Lockhart through a mutual acquaintance, fellow wrestler Disco Inferno (Glenn Gilbertti), who introduced them.
They have one son, Ash Edward Irvine (born 2003), and two daughters, Sierra Loretta “SiSi” Irvine and Cheyenne Lee “Chey” (born 2006). The family of five currently resides in the city of Tampa, in the state of Florida. During about against CM Punk in 2012 at a WWE live event in So Paulo, Brazil, Jericho, who was then a heel, crumpled the Brazilian flag and kicked it in the face. Due to the fact that disrespecting the flag is a criminal offence in Brazil, he was subject to arrest and even imprisonment.
His return to the United States was expedited by WWE, who flew him back via Guatemala. He delivered a public apology and was sentenced to a 30-day suspension as well as a five-figure fine in order to appease the government of Brazil, where the promotion has a significant following. He is involved in a variety of humanitarian endeavours, including a number of organisations that assist poor children and their families. A female fan was unjustly accused of hitting him in 2009, but the allegations against him were eventually dismissed.
Codebreaker (Running Double Knee Facebreaker) and Walls of Jericho are the two finishing moves that Jericho is now employing in his matches (Elevated Boston Crab). After graduating from high school and enrolling in the Hart Brothers School of Wrestling at the age of 19, Christopher got instruction from Ed Langley and local wrestler Brad Young. He made his professional wrestling debut on October 2, 1990, at the Moose Hall in Ponoka, Alberta, under the ring name “Cowboy” Chris Jericho. Wrestling for organisations such as the Canadian National Wrestling Alliance (CNWA), the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) in Mexico, and Genichiro Tenryu’s Wrestling and Romance in Japan were among the highlights of his early professional wrestling career.
After a brief run with Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), he made his professional wrestling debut on August 26, 1996, in a World Championship Wrestling (WCW) television special. His time with the promotion would last for the next three years, during which time he would compete against legends such as Goldberg, Dean Malenko, Marty Jannetty, and Booker T. He would go on to win three championships during that time. Additionally, he worked for New Japan Pro-Wrestling during this time period (NJPW).
His portrayal as a self-assured cultural icon for the World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment, which he joined in 1999, was that of a nimble walker who deftly walked the thin line between a heel and a face and could readily take up either role with only a minor shift in the storyline. Jericho has been involved in the writing process for the majority of his storylines, and he has made significant contributions to the development of his character. His first stint with WWF/E ran from 2003 until 2005. He returned for the first time in September 2007 and left again in 2010, only to return for the third time the following year.
On December 31, 2017, he announced his third and last departure from the WWE universe. Following this, there has been a great deal of conjecture about whether or not he is a free agent. Throughout the years, Jericho and industry great Shawn Michaels have cooperated on a number of occasions. In June 2008, a storyline involving Michaels as the hero and Jericho as the antagonist began to take shape. A ladder match at the 2008 No Mercy Pay-Per-View event served as a grand climax, with Jericho winning and retaining his WWE Heavyweight Championship belt as a result of his victory.
Several publications, including Pro Wrestling Illustrated and Wrestling Observer Newsletter, have dubbed this storyline “the feud of the year,” while the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has designated the No Mercy encounter as “the Match of the Year.” There have only been a handful of wrestlers throughout the history of the sport who have been able to successfully reinvent themselves. During his second comeback to the WWE in 2011, Jericho progressively built a character that represented the middle-aged version of the arrogant. Earlier this year, he collaborated with Kevin Owens to present a witty, well-written, and well-acted storey that wowed both critics and fans.
