Clyde Carson Biography and Career:

Oakland-born rapper Clyde Carson first gained popularity as a member of the hip-hop group The Team. He established himself as a solo artist after the band disbanded, producing EPs including Bass Rock in 2009 and Playboy in 2014.

In 2001, he used the trunk of his car to distribute The Story Vol., his first mixtape. Later, Ty Fyffe, a producer, was someone he got to know. His song “Slow Down” with the Team was featured in the well-known video game Grand Theft Auto V.

His mother reared him alone in the Bay Area of California. He started working for The Game’s record label, Black Wall Street Records, in 2006. Rapper Clyde Nyle Kalin Carson Parrish, best known by his stage name Clyde Carson, hails from Oakland, California.

He was born on June 2, 1981. He was first well-known for being a part of the hip hop crew The Team. He was the only member of the group to achieve solo success following the group’s hiatus. In 2006, he signed with Capitol Records and The Black Wall Street Records of rapper The Game.

He released the EP Doin’ That while still a signee there. He didn’t stay with them for very long before deciding to return to independent music release through Moe Doe Entertainment. He has two EPs, Bass Rock and Playboy, after relocating to solely that label.

In addition, he recorded the song “Slow Down,” which was included in the Grand Theft Auto V video game. In 2001, Carson launched a successful professional rap career by peddling his first mixtape, The Story Vol. 1, from the trunk of his car.

He met producer Ty Fyffe after breaking into the backstage area of a TRL performance, and the two became good friends. Soon after, he relocated to New York City with Ty Fyffe and spent almost a year there. He went to the recording studio with Fyffe and rappers like Jay-Z and Cam’ron.

This gave him more self-assurance. When they met, Fyffe said “I wished to leave Oakland behind. This was before local music other than E-40 was broadcast on the radio.” Then, in 2002, Carson returned to California and joined up with Bay Area rappers Mayne Mannish and Kaz Kyzah to establish the hip hop duo The Team.

They were placed in local radio rotation after releasing a project on the record label run by local hero Keak da Sneak. After releasing the singles “Just Go” and “Bottles Up” to support their third studio album, World Premiere, which peaked at number 95 on the US Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and number 50 on the Billboard Top Independent Albums chart, they then experienced an increase in popularity in late 2005.

However, the album’s influence was diminished by its protracted postponement. In 2006, Carson signed with Moedoe and Capitol Records under a major record label deal thanks to assistance from rapper The Game and his Black Wall Street Records.

As a rapper, there is no ceiling in Los Angeles [as there is in the Bay], he claimed upon signing. Then he went on tour with The Game. On September 4, 2007, Carson launched his first retail EP, Doin’ That, which was promoted by the Sean Kingston-featuring hit “Doin’ It.”

The release date of Black Wall Street and Capitol’s debut album, Theater Music, was then made public, however it would be postponed indefinitely. The studio head passed away, the person who signed him left the label, and “time wasn’t right” were his explanations for why the contract failed.

Carson would not, however, be formally discharged from Capitol until 2009. On July 21, 2009, Moe Doe Entertainment released Carson’s second EP, Bass Rock, in honour of his independence. It was made available in a few record shops as well as for digital download.

To record the song “Slow Down,” Carson and The Team got back together in December 2011. After that, on June 26, 2012, Universal Music Group released “Slow Down” as a single. After the song was released, a DJ by the name of J-12 created a dance especially for it, which encouraged dozens of young people to post their own versions of it on YouTube.

Its highest point was at number 28 on the Rhythmic chart and number 21 on the US Billboard Rap Airplay chart.  Instead of his teammates from The Team, the remix would include Gucci Mane, E-40, The Game, and Dom Kennedy.

The Team performed the song at Hot 97’s Summer Jam based on the song’s popularity. The song “Slow Down” was subsequently released as part of The Team’s reunion EP, Hell of a Night. The song would ultimately serve as the lead single for his second official mixtape, S.T.S.A. (Something To Speak About).

Guest appearances on S.T.S.A. were made by E-40, Iamsu!, Problem, and B-Legit.  Sho Nuff, a member of The Team, produced it from beginning to end. After its publication, he started on his subsequent endeavour. On June 4, 2013, he made “Pour Up” the lead single from his upcoming EP.

The Game and Young Jeezy would later record new rhymes to a remix of “Pour Up.” The remainder of 2013 saw him appear on albums by other rappers, including Ya Boy’s Rich Rocka, E-40’s The Block Brochure: Welcome to the Soil 6, and The Game’s OKE: Operation Kill Everything.

The EP song “Bring Em Outmusic “‘s video was then made available by Carson on February 14, 2014. Playboy, his third solo EP, became available for pre-order on iTunes around the same time. Carson’s Playboy was made available through Moe Doe Entertainment on March 4, 2014.

It gets its name from the stage moniker Playboy Short used by the rapper Too Short. The EP featured production by DJ Mustard, League Of Starz, Dez Dynamic, and Sho Nuff, along with D-Lo, August Alsina, and Master P as special guests.

Reviews of it were largely favourable. XXL’s Jameel Raeburn stated, “Playboy EP’s lack of variety might be its biggest turnoff for potential listeners, but ultimately, the album is packed to the gills with bangers. Playboy is a great soundtrack to Clyde’s own player antics, and he has solidly carved out a niche for himself with his continuous party tunes.”

The peak position for Playboy on the US Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart was number 23. The following day, on April 4, 2014, Master P’s song “What the Business Is” was released. Carson then appeared on it. In 2014, Carson intends to release S.T.S.A. Part II and then embark on a tour.
