DaMarcus Beasley Biography and Career:

Beasley, who was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, joined IMG Academy, the United States Soccer Federation’s Residency programme in Bradenton, Florida, after graduating from high school. Beasley attended South Side High School in Chicago for two years before relocating to Florida. A great performer at the 1999 Under-17 World Cup in New Zealand, Beasley earned the Silver Ball as the tournament’s second-best player, behind teammate Landon Donovan, and was named the tournament’s most valuable player.

In addition to being a member of the Cedar Rapids Rampage and the United States national futsal team, Jamar Beasley was a former player in Major League Soccer and for the United States under-20 squad. Their father encouraged them to participate in sports as children, which led to DaMarcus and Jamar becoming involved with soccer as children.

When he was younger, he participated in football and basketball. The Diamond Studio, a Scottish jewellery business with which he has collaborated, has also produced an exclusive jewellery collection with him. On February 1, 2010, a car belonging to Beasley was set on fire in front of his home in Glasgow. In a press release issued on October 28, 2020, Fort Wayne FC announced that Beasley has joined the club’s ownership group as a co-owner.

The team has stated plans to self-promote from USL League Two to USL League One, with the move set to take place beginning with the 2023 season. Beasley was a member of the United States national team for more than a decade, representing the country at four FIFA World Cups. As a spectator, he was also a vital member of the United States squad that won the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2002, 2005, 2007, 2013, and 2017 as a significant member of the United States team. Beasley served as the captain of the team for the 2013 Gold Cup.

Beasley was a member of the United States Under-20 team that competed in the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship in Argentina. He received his first senior cap against China on January 27, 2001, when he was 18 years old. At the age of 20, he was nominated to the United States’ World Cup roster for the 2002 tournament in Japan and South Korea, where he appeared in all three group matches as the team accomplished its greatest result in more than half a century by reaching the quarter-finals of the tournament.

As a result of their poor performances during the 2006 World Cup, Beasley and fellow young midfielder Landon Donovan were chastised by fans and the United States coach Bruce Arena. When the United States was playing Ghana, he set up the lone goal, which was scored by Clint Dempsey. When the United States was playing Italy, he had a possible game-winning goal disallowed when Brian McBride was determined to be screening Gianluigi Buffon in an offside position.

Beasley played the entire 90 minutes for the United States against Trinidad and Tobago in the fourth round of the 2010 World Cup qualification tournament. According to Beasley, this was the first time in his professional career that he had played the position for the whole game. As Beasley suffered from injuries and little playing time at Rangers, he saw his performance with the England national team deteriorate significantly.

The ball was lost by Beasley on a short corner kick during the second match of the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup against Brazil, which led to a goal for the Brazilians on the counter-attack. He was taken off the field shortly after and did not return for the remainder of the competition. Coach Bob Bradley selected Beasley to the United States’ 23-man World Cup roster, although he only made one substitute appearance, in the team’s 1-0 loss to Algeria in the group stage.

After earning four substitute appearances over the next two and a half years, Beasley was called upon to represent the United States in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers. He started at left-back and garnered positive evaluations in the triumphs over Costa Rica, Jamaica, Panama, and a draw against Mexico, among other matches. When Jürgen Klinsmann was elected manager of the United States national team in July 2013, Beasley was named captain for the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup, where he started at left-back in five of the six games the United States competed in.

The United States was victorious in the competition. With his selection to the United States’ World Cup squad for 2014, Beasley joined Claudio Reyna and Kasey Keller as the only American players to have been selected to four World Cup squads in their careers.

By competing against Ghana in the team’s opening match of the tournament, he became the only player in the history of the United States to feature in four World Cup competitions. He appeared in all four of the United States’ matches, including a match against Belgium in the round of 16 of the tournament. On December 15, 2014, Beasley announced his retirement from the United States national team.

However, at the request of United States coach Jürgen Klinsmann, he was called back to the national team for the 2015 Gold Cup in Brazil. Only one appearance was made by him during the campaign, and that was in the encounter versus Panama for third place in the group. He came into the game during extra time and missed the final penalty shot of the game. By starting at left wingback in a World Cup qualifying match against Mexico in June 2017, Beasley became the first American to appear in all five World Cup qualifying campaigns.
