Danny Glover Biography and Career:

Danny Glover is the son of James and Carrie Glover, and he was born in the city of San Francisco. His parents both had jobs in the postal service and as union activists in the past. Both of them were very active participants in the events that were held by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). He spent his childhood in the city of Atlanta, Georgia. He developed an interest in athletics when he was a student at George Washington High School.

During this period, he also acquired an appreciation for acting. Because he suffered from epilepsy, he was unable to indulge his passion for participating in sports. In addition to that, he struggled tremendously with dyslexia. However, these obstacles were not enough to dissuade him from furthering his studies, and after receiving his diploma from high school, he enrolled in San Francisco University to study economics and mathematics.

During his time as a student at this institution, he was an active member of the Black Students Union and took part in the student strike that took place in 1968 all throughout the nation to demand the establishment of a Department of Black Studies. Working as a researcher in the mayor’s office allowed him to gain experience in preparation for a future career in public service. In addition to that, he did some work as an evaluator for the San Francisco Model Cities program for a period of time.

After deciding that he wanted to pursue acting training at the Black Actors Workshop, he decided to quit his work as an examiner.
