Danny Woodburn Biography and Career:

Danny Woodburn is a well-known American actor, comedian, and activist for the rights of people with disabilities due to his dwarfism. He was born on July 26, 1964, in the United States. On the television show Seinfeld, he portrayed Mickey Abbott. To this day, he has appeared in more than 150 episodes of television and 30 films. Woodburn is an Abington Senior High School graduate in Abington Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. He also attended and graduated from the Temple University School of Communications and Theatre.

In 2001, the school recognized his outstanding achievements as a graduate with the Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award. Before coming to Los Angeles, Woodburn performed in several theatre plays, including Israel Horovitz’s The Indian Wants the Bronx, David Mamet’s Revenge of the Space Pandas, Scapino, and a touring company production of Viet Rock. Some of these works were written before Woodburn moved to Los Angeles. With The Soda Jerk, he made his breakthrough in the world of New York theatre.

Woodburn has been doing stand-up comedy for more than 20 years and has done so nationwide. He has been a featured performer at several comedy clubs, one which is “The Improv;” “Laugh Factory,” “Carolines on Broadway,” “The Comedy Store,” and “Gotham Comedy Club” are some of the most well-known comedy clubs in New York City. Woodburn played the “Professor Pixel” role in the Halloween special Count DeClues’ Mystery Castle, shown on Fox in 1992. The episode was filmed in The Magic Castle nightclub in Los Angeles.

In addition to his more than 150 appearances on television, Woodburn had several leading and recurrent parts on nationally renowned network programs, starting with his iconic performances as Mickey Abbott on the comedy Seinfeld, which was nominated for several Emmys and won several of them. He appeared in the series Conan the Adventurer in 1997 (as Otli, Conan’s sidekick), in Special Unit 2 as Carl, and he had many return appearances on Passions, The Bold, and the Beautiful, Tracey Takes in…, Baywatch, Early Edition, Murder She Wrote, Charmed, Becker, and Bones. In addition, he played the role of Carl in the film Special Unit 2.

In addition, she has appeared as a guest star on several television programs, including Hunter, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, The Pretender, Angel, CSI, Veronica’s Closet, 8 Simple Rules, Monk, and Jane the Virgin, among others. The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, iCarly, Cory in the House, Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn, and Bizaardvark are just a few of the children’s television series he has appeared as a guest stars. On Crash & Bernstein, he played the role of Mr. Poulos regularly.

He provided a guest voice for the pixie taskmaster in the episode “Pixtopia” of Star vs. the Forces of Evil, shown on the Disney Channel and starred Eden Sher. After casting all four heroes in a half-shell—Alan Ritchson will portray Raphael, Pete Ploszek will play Leonardo, Jeremy Howard will play Donatello, and Noel Fisher will assume the part of Michaelangelo—the new edition of Ninja Turtles has been searching for the wise leader of the young mutants.

Now, it has been reported by Deadline that the hunt is over and that Danny Woodburn, a veteran of “Seinfeld” and star of “Watchmen,” will play the part of Master Splinter in the live-action/CG hybrid picture that Jonathan Liebesman will direct. Although you may not be familiar with the name Woodburn, you have undoubtedly seen him in various films and television episodes. Keep reading!

Because he is one of the few more renowned dwarf actors working in Hollywood, Woodburn is quite easy to recognize. His performances have ranged from Jingle to Death to Smoochy, not to mention his television appearances on “Party Down” and “CSI.” Woodburn is a good actor but also has a highly identifiable voice, which does not come to me when I think of Master Splinter.

But maybe that’s simply because I can’t get the animated and live-action versions of the character out of my thoughts simultaneously. Woodburn will also appear in the film with Megan Fox as April O’Neil and Will Arnett in an unspecified role; however, it is becoming more probable that Arnett will play the evil Shredder. A new master has been assigned to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Danny Woodburn has been cast as the mutant rat Splinter in the following hybrid live-action/computer-generated feature produced by Platinum Dunes and Michael Bay and directed by Jonathan Liebesman.

In the same fashion that the turtles are being fabricated, the performer is expected to carry out their performance entirely via motion capture technology. The rat tends to the four mutant turtles that give the series its name and teaches them martial arts, strategy, and (in most instances) self-discipline. Woodburn has been in many projects, including Seinfeld, Mirror Mirror, Death to Smoochy, Bones, Crash & Bernstein, and Watchmen, and is known for his many parts in these productions.

Because Woodburn was hired in this role, it leads us to believe that the actors who portray CG characters using motion capture will also be responsible for providing the voices of those characters. It has been stated that Alan Ritchson, Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard, and Noel Fisher will be the physical performers that will mo-cap the four turtles, and, likely, they will also provide the voices for the characters.
