David Adedeji Adeleke Biography and Career:

Davido was born in Atlanta, Georgia on November 21, 1992, to Nigerian billionaire businessman Chief Adedeji Adeleke and his wife, university lecturer Dr. Veronica Adeleke. He is the third child born to his parents. He has two sisters, Sharon and Ashley Coco, as well as an older brother, Adewale Adedeji. His mother passed away in March 2003. His father is the founder and president of ‘Adeleke University,’ as well as the CEO of ‘Pacific Holdings.’ Davido and his siblings serve on his father’s company’s board of directors.

Davido attended ‘The British International School’ in Lagos. He began making music when he was 11 years old. Davido began work on his second studio album, ‘The Baddest,’ in 2013, and released the lead single, ‘Gobe,’ in February 2013. The song and video were well-received, and they were ranked second on the ‘Premium Times’ list of the ‘Top 10 of 2013.’ His subsequent singles included ‘One of a Kind’ (May 2013), ‘Skelewu’ (August 2013), and ‘Aye’ (February 2014). In April 2014, the fifth single, ‘Tchelete (Good Life),’ featuring South African duo ‘Mafikizolo,’ was released.

Davido collaborated with singers Lola Rae, Mi Casa, Tiwa Savage, and Diamond Platnumz in June 2014 to record a song for the ‘Africa Rising’ campaign. The song was intended to inspire his countrymen to take part in a community-based social-investment project.

Davido has endorsement deals with ‘MTN’ and the mobile brand ‘Infinix Mobile.’ He signed a contract with ‘Guinness Nigeria’ and appeared at the ‘Guinness World of More’ concert.

He signed a recording contract with ‘Sony Music’ in 2016. Following that, he established his own record label, ‘DMW – Davido Music Worldwide.’ The same year, he signed with RCA Records, a Sony subsidiary, and released an EP called ‘Son of Mercy.’ There were five singles on the EP, including ‘How Long,’ ‘Gbagbe Oshi,’ and ‘Coolest Kid in Africa.’ Later, he explained that a few issues with creative control had prompted him to renegotiate his contract with ‘Sony Music.’

Davido released the singles ‘If’ and ‘Fall’ in 2017, both of which were successful, with ‘Fall’ becoming the longest-charting Nigerian pop song on the ‘Billboard’ charts. Toward the end of 2018, he toured the United States, performing at concerts and shows in various cities.
