In addition, he played for Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, Wycombe Wanderers in the Conference, and Cambridge United, Barnet, Millwall, Leicester City, and Norwich City in The Football League throughout his career. He also had a stint in the Conference. He won the England national team cap a total of four times.

After retiring, Dublin decided to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. In addition to that, he plays percussion instruments for fun and is the creator of an instrument known as “The Dube.”

During their performance at the University of East Anglia in Norwich in 2011, he served as an opening act for Ocean Colour Scene. In 2015, he became a member of the presenting team for the daily program Homes Under the Hammer, which airs on BBC One.

He has also made frequent appearances as a commentator for BBC Sport, particularly on Football Focus, Match of the Day, and Final Score. Additionally, he does some co-commentary work on live television broadcasts of FA Cup matches.

Dublin was born in Leicester, and when he was in school, he played for a number of youth teams in the county of Leicestershire, including Wigston Fields and Thurmaston Magpies. After Dublin graduated from high school in 1985, he immediately began his professional footballing career with Norwich City. However, he was never given the opportunity to play for the first team and was eventually dismissed from the club in 1988.

In August of 1988, he made the move from Norwich City, where he had played as a central striker, to Cambridge United, where he did the same job on a free transfer. In spite of this, he was forced to play center back a few times because of injuries to other players.

His goal-scoring prowess was a major factor in United’s rise up the leagues. After that, Dublin played for Barnet and Wycombe Wanderers for brief periods of time during the 1988–1989 season on loan from the club. During the 1989–1990 season, Cambridge was promoted from the Fourth Division to the Third Division through the playoffs. During this same season, Dublin became the first player to ever score in a Wembley play-off final.

The team won the championship of the Third Division during the 1990–1991 season, and in both that season and the next season, the club advanced to the quarterfinals of the FA Cup. Dublin scored against Arsenal during the 1991 season.

When Cambridge failed to win promotion to the top flight via the playoffs in the 1991–92 season, Dublin was put up for sale. He had played a significant role in helping Cambridge to their highest-ever finishing position in the football league, which was fifth place in the final season of the old Second Division. Since then, he has shown his admiration for Cambridge United on several occasions.

After seeing Dublin play in a cup match, Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson made the decision to buy him on August 7, 1992, for the sum of one million pounds, beating off opposition from Chelsea and Everton. After Sir Alex Ferguson failed in his attempt to recruit Alan Shearer from Southampton, Manchester United made a rather unexpected acquisition in Dublin. This occurred after Ferguson’s efforts to sign Shearer were thwarted by Blackburn Rovers.

He scored the game-winning goal in the last minute of United’s first Premier League game of the 1992–1993 season, which was a 1–0 victory against Southampton at The Dell. This was United’s first victory in the Premier League. However, on September 2, he was tackled by Eric Young during a match against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford, and as a result, he suffered a fractured leg. He was sidelined for the next six months because of this injury.

However, by the time he had fully recovered, United had already completed the signing of Eric Cantona, and the Frenchman had firmly established himself as the first-choice attack partner to Mark Hughes. During that season, United won the league for the first time since 1967, but Dublin did not make the 10 Premier League outings necessary to automatically get a championship winner’s medal. Consequently, Dublin did not win the league. In spite of this, the Premier League made an exception for him and awarded him a medal as a token of their appreciation.

Dublin was able to restore his health for the 1993–1994 season, but his opportunities to play for the first team were limited due to the productive duo of Cantona and Hughes. In December 1993, Ferguson agreed to a deal with Everton manager Howard Kendall that would have seen Dublin go to Goodison Park.

However, a member of Everton’s board of directors interfered to prevent the transfer from going through. This controversy caused Kendall to leave as manager. Dublin would continue to be a player for United for the next nine months, but he would never be able to establish himself as a regular member of the first team.

He played in the league five times that year, scoring once in a 3–2 home victory over Oldham Athletic in early April. His goal helped secure a crucial victory in the title run-in during a period when United started to drop points and Blackburn Rovers were closing in on them. He only managed five appearances in the league that season. In addition, he scored one more goal for United in the Football League Cup second round the first leg, which took place at the Victoria Ground but resulted in a loss to Stoke City by a score of 2–1.

The goal that Dublin scored against Oldham was the lone goal that Dublin scored in a competitive game for United at Old Trafford. He was not selected for the team that won the FA Cup, and he did not make enough appearances to earn another Premier League title winner medal. As a result, in September of 1994, he was sold to Coventry City for the then-record signing fee of £2 million, which was also one of the largest fees received by Manchester United. This fee was also one of the largest fees ever received by Coventry City.

On February 11, 1998, Dublin won his first cap for England by playing in the whole of a friendly match against Chile at Wembley Stadium, which England ultimately lost 2-0. In the months leading up to the 1998 FIFA World Cup, Dublin participated in the King Hassan II International Cup Tournament in the month of May. He made his debut in a 1–0 victory over Morocco and came off the bench in a 0–0 draw with Belgium, a match that England played but ultimately lost on penalties.

Despite the fact that Les Ferdinand has been in better form and has shown greater versatility throughout the season, including finishing tied for first place in the Premier League in scoring with 18 goals, Glenn Hoddle chose to include Les Ferdinand in his 22-man squad for the competition in France rather than Dublin. At Wembley Stadium on November 18th, he began in the friendly victory against the Czech Republic that ended with a score of 2-0. This ended up being Dublin’s last appearance for his country in a national team cap. He was awarded four England caps but did not score any goals for his country.

Since his retirement from professional football, Dublin has been employed by Sky Sports as a commentator for the media. Dublin has provided commentary for a number of games, including those of the UEFA Champions League with Martin Tyler, in addition to making an appearance on Ford Super Sunday with Richard Keys. Additionally, he has contributed to the discussion on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Fighting Talk as a panelist. In addition to that, he has co-hosted shows such as 606 on BBC Radio 5 Live and Match of the Day 2, and he used to be a frequent host for the East area of BBC One’s Late Kick Off. In 2015, he became a co-host on Homes Under the Hammer with Lucy Alexander and Martin Roberts.

Additionally for the BBC, he has worked as a frequent commentator for BBC Sport, particularly on Football Focus, Match of the Day, and Final Score, among other programs. Additionally, he does some co-commentary work on live television broadcasts of FA Cup matches.

It was revealed that Dublin will be participating in the Celebrity MasterChef competition on BBC in August of 2021. He advanced to the last round. Outside of sport, he came up with a variant of the Cajon that he dubbed The Dube when he was playing for Norwich. The instrument was a percussion instrument. During a performance given by Ocean Colour Scene at the University of East Anglia in 2011, he served as an opening act.

Dublin was given the position of club director at his old organization, Cambridge United, in July of 2021.
