Dominic Grieve Biography and Career:

The Conservative Party dismissed Dominic Grieve from the party in 2019 as a result of his anti-government and anti-Brexit stances. Grieve is a British lawyer and former politician who represented the Conservative Party until he was expelled from the party in 2019. In 1997, he was elected to the House of Commons as the representative for Beaconsfield, where he remained until 2019. Dominic has also served as a shadow home secretary and as an attorney general in various capacities. He is the son of Percy Grieve, a former Solihull Member of Parliament.

Dominic completed his undergraduate studies in history at Magdalen College before earning a law degree from Westminster University. On the Brexit discussion, he is well-known for his advocacy for the “Remain” side of the argument. He suggested various amendments to avoid a no-deal Brexit and finally opted to stand with the opposition, along with 20 other rebel MPs, to vote against Boris Johnson in the next general election in April 2019.

As a result, the party expelled all 21 of the rebellious members of parliament. A little later in the year, Dominic ran as an independent candidate for the Beaconsfield seat but was defeated by the incumbent Conservative candidate. Dominic is married to Caroline Hutton, a barrister, and they are the parents of two children.

Dominic Charles Roberts Grieve was born on May 24, 1956, in Lambeth, London, England, and is an English actor and director. Sir George Roberts, 1st and final baronet, had a granddaughter, Evelyn Raymonde Louise Mijouain, who was an Anglo-French woman and the granddaughter of Sir George Roberts. Dominic then went on to study at Westminster School. Following that, he earned a BA in modern history from Magdalen College, Oxford, where he continued his education.

In 1979, he graduated with honors from the Polytechnic of Central London (now known as Westminster University), with a certificate in law. During his time at Oxford University, he served as president of the Oxford University Conservative Association.

In 1980, he became a member of the Middle Temple Bar Association. After that, he worked as a barrister for another 17 years. Later, he became a specialist in the field of workplace safety and health legislation. In 2005, he was made a “Bencher” of the Middle Temple, a position he has held since. In 2008, he was appointed to the position of “Queen’s Counsel.”

Dominic served as a Conservative councilor in the London borough of Hammersmith and Fulham (representing the Avonmore ward) from 1982 to 1986. In the 1987 general election, he ran for the position of the Member of Parliament for Norwood, Lambeth. However, he was defeated in the election by John Fraser, a member of the Labour Party. With 49.2 percent of the vote, he was elected to the House of Commons from Beaconsfield in 1997, and he served in the seat until 2019, winning with increasing margins with each succeeding election.

From 1997 to 1999, he served on the select committees for environmental audit and statutory instruments, among other positions. Dominic was elevated to the front bench by William Hague in 1999, allowing him to comment on Scottish concerns. Dominic was moved to the Department of Criminal Justice by Iain Duncan Smith in 2001.

In 2003, Michael Howard appointed him to the position of shadow attorney general. Dominic played a critical part in blocking the government from implementing the authority to imprison terror suspects without prosecution for up to 90 days without charge in 2006.

Dominic was appointed shadow home secretary by David Cameron in 2008, and he served in that capacity until 2009 when he was promoted to the role of shadow justice secretary. The attorney general for England and Wales, as well as Northern Ireland’s advocate general, were both positions held by him from 2010 to 2014. In May 2013, he and three other cabinet members abstained from voting on the issue of same-sex marriage.

When Dominic made contentious remarks about the Pakistani community in the United Kingdom in November 2013, he was accused of promoting corruption within the community.
