Glasses Malone Biography and Career:

Glasses, who was born in Watts and is now based in Los Angeles, is considered to be a member of the subgenre of hard-core West Coast rappers despite the fact that he does not romanticize the life of crime and violence that he formerly lived. Malone’s meteoric mixtape run propelled him to the front of the pack among the “New West” MCs that came into the scene in the middle to late years of the 2000s. Malone spent his childhood moving back and forth between the Los Angeles areas of Watts and Compton. His whole family had a significant presence in the illicit drug trade (his mother was convicted and sentenced to prison for 25 years).

After some time, he decided to devote himself entirely to music and gave up dealing drugs and gangbanging. Together, his street albums The Crack Mixtape (2003) and White Lightning (2005) sold in the tens of thousands of copies and provided a number of hits for radio stations in the Los Angeles area. He made an immediate and significant impact with these albums. Just the excitement that he generated from those two mixtapes alone sparked a high-end, major-label bidding war, and Def Jam, Atlantic, and Aftermath were among the labels that participated in the competition. Malone, on the other hand, sealed a distribution deal with Sony for his Blu Division imprint worth a staggering $1.7 million toward the end of 2005.

Unfortunately, the following year saw Sony undergo a significant amount of reorganization, one of the results of which was the elimination of the label’s urban division. Malone was released from his contract in 2007, but he didn’t waste any time before quickly securing a joint deal with Cash Money and Westside Connection MC Mack 10’s Hoo Bangin’ imprint practically a week later. After that, he released his first proper single, “Certified,” which featured hook crooner Akon. The song gradually worked its way into the rotation of national radio stations. In spite of the positive reception, Malone’s debut album continued to face roadblocks until it was finally issued under the title Beach Cruiser in August of 2011.

It was produced by a number of different people, including Q-Tip, DJ Toomp, and the Cataracs. Malone signed with the record label despite the fact that the majority of their artists were affiliated with the Bloods. He later signed with Cash Money Records in 2011, turning down offers from many labels including Def Jam Records, Interscope Records, J Records, and Atlantic Records. Traditionally associated with the record label The Black Wall Street Records despite the fact that most of their artists were affiliated with the Bloods. The same record executive who discovered The Game was also responsible for discovering Glasses Malone.

In addition to his earning a contract, he was also presented with his own own label called Blu Division. Malone made his first appearance with the release of the mixtapes “The Crack Mixtape” and “White Lightnin’ Sticks.” White Lightning… Sticks was a successful release, selling 50,000 copies. It included the smash street track “Two Hunned.” Glasses Malone had a cameo appearance in the music video for Tech N9ne’s “Like Yeah,” in addition to appearing in the music video for Tha Dogg Pound’s track “Cali Iz Active.”  Additionally, he contributed to the soundtrack of Madden 2007 with the song “Right Now,” which was produced by Scott Storch and included on the game.

Glasses Malone had an appearance on the You Hear It First program on MTV on August 4, 2006. The release of Malone’s first studio album, titled Beach Cruiser, was initially slated to take place on February 20, 2007. Despite this, Malone signed a new record contract with Cash Money Records and Hoo-Bangin’ Records, switching record companies in the process. The release of the album was initially planned to take place in April of 2008. The year 2008 saw the release of two singles taken from the album: “Certified,” which featured Akon, and “Haterz,” which featured Birdman and Lil Wayne. Although it was discovered on the internet on August 24, 2011, his album will not be made available to the public until August 29.

The song “Call Me T.I.” was written by Malone specifically for the American rapper T.I. and included on his album. On the K.O.D. Tour that took place in the latter half of 2009, Malone was one of the supporting acts along with hip-hop band Slaughterhouse. In 2010, former Cash Money R&B artist TQ released his seventh studio album, titled Kind of Blue, which contained a guest appearance by Malone. Additionally, Glasses Malone may be featured on a certain edition of Twiztid’s album Abominationz, which was released in 2012. Glasses Malone established his own record label, Division Media Corporation, in the year 2014. Additionally, Glasses has collaborated with DJ Skee and Dash Radio to provide radio material for his own station as part of their partnership.
