Golden State Warriors Biography and Career:

The Golden State Warriors are a professional basketball team headquartered in San Francisco, California, that represents the United States. They represent the Western Conference Pacific Division of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and play their home games in Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. The Warriors were founded in Philadelphia in 1946 and relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1962, where they adopted the name of the city until altering their geographic nickname to Golden State in 1971.

The Chase Center is where the club’s home games are played. Paul Arizin, Tom Gola, and Neil Johnston led the Warriors to the first-ever Basketball Association of America (BAA) title in 1947, and they won it again in 1956 under the leadership of the Hall of Fame trio. Following the trade of star Wilt Chamberlain in January 1965, the team finished with the worst record in the NBA (17–63) during the 1964–65 regular season. The Warriors’ rebuilding process was relatively brief, thanks in large part to the drafting of Rick Barry by the team four months after the trade. In 1975, the Warriors won their third title with the help of top players Barry and Jamaal Wilkes, who are widely regarded as the architects of one of the greatest upsets in NBA history.

Powered by Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, the club returned to championship glory in 2015, and they repeated the feat in 2017 and 2018, this time with the assistance of former MVP Kevin Durant. “Dubs” is an abbreviation of “W’s,” and the Warriors have multiple NBA records to their credit, including the greatest regular season, most victories in a season (including regular season and postseason combined), and the longest postseason run. Curry and Thompson are widely regarded as some of the best backcourts in the history of the sport. They are tied with the Chicago Bulls for third-most NBA championships and third most Finals appearances; only the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics have more titles and Finals appearances than the Warriors.

With an estimated value of $4.7 billion, the Warriors are the second most valuable NBA team and the sixth most valuable sports club in the world, behind only the Los Angeles Lakers. Throughout their history, the Warriors have used a variety of different logo and jersey designs, with the most recent redesign coming in 2010. The Warriors, on the other hand, made slight changes to their primary logo on June 12, 2019, including the addition of a new bespoke font. Afterward, on September 17, 2019, the club introduced six new uniform designs that featured the club’s newly redesigned logo. The Warriors wore a “City” uniform for the 2020-21 season, which paid homage to the “We Believe” era in Oakland, as well as their 47 seasons in Oakland in general, during the season.

It retains the same color palette as the previous logo, as well as the “Oakland” location identifier in the typography from the previous logo. The Warriors will wear a Warriors Origins jersey during the upcoming 2021-22 season, which is a modernization of their 1961-62 road uniform. In addition to being the team’s final season in Philadelphia, 1961-62 was the season in which Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points in a single game for the first time. The jersey also serves as a commemorative piece for the franchise’s 75th anniversary. The Golden State Warriors played their first regular-season game at the Chase Center on October 24, 2019, and were defeated by the Los Angeles Clippers 141–122.

Curry was injured in a collision during the team’s very next home game, on October 30 against the Phoenix Suns, and required surgery, which was projected to put him out of action for at least three months. As a result of this, and Thompson’s injury recovery, which kept him out for the whole season, the Warriors were put into a downward spiral from which they never recovered. They did, however, see second-round pick Eric Paschall, two-way player Damion Lee, and training camp pickup Marquese Chriss establish themselves as rotation players in their first season. The Golden State Warriors traded Russell, 2018 first-round selection Jacob Evans, and recent acquisition Omari Spellman to the Minnesota Timberwolves at the trade deadline in exchange for Andrew Wiggins, a protected first-round choice in the top-3, and a second-round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.

Curry returned to the field for one game on March 5 before the season was halted because to the COVID-19 outbreak in the United States. The Warriors were not one of the 22 teams invited to the NBA Bubble on June 4, despite finishing with the league’s lowest record of 15–50 after the conclusion of the 2019–20 season. The Warriors were awarded the 2nd overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft lottery, and they used that pick to choose Memphis center James Wiseman from the University of Memphis.

Nico Mannion, the 48th overall pick, was also selected by the team. Just as the 2020–21 NBA season was about to get underway, it was rumored that guard Klay Thompson would miss the entire season due to an Achilles tendon injury, marking the second time in his career that he would miss a season. Curry would drop 20 points in the first game of the season against the Nets, resulting in a 99-125 loss for the Warriors. As a result, they finished the regular season with a 39-33 record, earning a spot in the new NBA Play-in Tournament[130], where they would face the seventh-seeded Los Angeles Lakers in the first round.
