Billie Eilish Biography and Career:
Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O’Connell was on born December 18, 2001. She is an American singer and songwriter. Her debut single, “Ocean Eyes”, went viral and has accumulated over 132 million flows on Spotify as of October 2018. Her debut EP Do Not Smile at Me was released in August 2017. After the EP’s victory, Apple Music called Eilish as its latest Up Next artist a month later in September 2017.
Eilish was raised in Highland Park, Los Angeles with a family of musicians and actors. Her parents are actress-musician-screenwriter Maggie Baird and Patrick O’Connell; she’s largely Scottish and Irish ancestry. She was homeschooled and joined the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus at age eight. At age eleven, Billie started singing and writing her own songs, taking after her older brother Finneas O’Connell who was writing, acting and producing his own tunes with his band. In October 2015, Billie recorded the song”Ocean Eyes”, originally written by Finneas for his group, and delivered it to her dance instructor who helped to choreograph a dance to it.
“Ocean Eyes” was released as Eilish’s debut single on SoundCloud in 2016. A music video was released on March 24, 2016, and a movie of Eilish performing a dance to the tune was released on November 22, 2016. That year, Eilish also released the single”Six Feet Under” “Ocean Eyes” has been rereleased globally through Darkroom and Interscope Records on November 18, 2016, to largely positive critical reviews. “The song is pure pop; a ballad about longing for reconciliation with an ex. I can envision it becoming a significant hit,” said Chris DeVille of Stereogum. On January 14, 2017, Eilish released an EP with four remixes of “Ocean Eyes”.
After the success of the”Ocean Eyes” remixes, Eilish released the single”Bellyache” on February 24, 2017. “Bellyache” was created and co-written by Finneas O’Connell, using a music video directed by Miles and AJ premiered on March 22, 2017. On March 30, Eilish released the track”Bored” within the soundtrack to the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why. On June 30, 2017, Eilish released the single”View” using a followup single, “Copycat” published on July 11, 2017, in addition to the statement of her debut EP, Do Not Smile at Me. Each Friday in July, Eilish would add another single to the EP. It was in this way that the singles”Idontwannabeyouanymore” and”My Boy” were released. Do not Smile at Me was released on August 12, 2017. After the launch, Eilish collaborated with American rapper Vince Staples to get a remix of”View” titled”&Burn”, which was later included on a re-release of the EP.
In February 2018, Eilish embarked on the Where is My Mind Tour, which concluded in April 2018. For the Record Store Day of 2018, Eilish declared a 7″ vinyl featuring an acoustic version of her song”Party Favor” and an acoustic cover of Drake’s”Hotline Bling”. Eilish collaborated with American singer Khalid for its single”Beautiful”, which premiered in April 2018 and added to the soundtrack for the next season of 13 Reasons Why. She released the singles”Bitches Broken Hearts” and”You Should See Me at a Crown”. On October 17, 2018, Eilish released the single “When the Party’s Over”. In January 2019, Eilish published a clip of a music video for her upcoming album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? This clip was from the music video for “Bury a Friend”, which was released as the album’s third single on January 30, 2019.
On November 27, 2018, after videos emerged on the net of a compilation containing Eilish experiencing tics associated with Tourette syndrome, she published on her Instagram account confirming Tourette syndrome was part of her life. Her main musical influences are the Beatles, Green Day and Avril Lavigne.
