Jinkx Monsoon Biography and Career:

On September 18th, 1987, the renowned actor Jinkx Monsoon, who is recognized for his performance, was born in Portland, Oregon, in the United States of America. The contributions that he has made to films and television shows such as RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars for acting, Happiest Season for acting, Waxie Moon in Fallen Jewel for acting, Trixie Mattel: Moving Parts for acting, The Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Special for writing, and a great number of other projects have earned him praise and admiration. Jinkx Monsoon is a performer both in drag and in the realm of singing.


In a post he made on Facebook in 2015, Jinkx declared “I do not consider myself to be of the cisgender binary. I am genderless.”In July of 2017, they sent out a tweet “I feel most comfortable referring to myself as non-gendered or non-binary. I like to use they or them.” Jinkx disclosed their gender identity as transgender to Bob the Drag Queen in an interview that took place in September 2020.

They came out as homosexual when they were in middle school at DaVinci Arts, where they also received their education. She made her debut as a drag performer at the underground nightclub “Escape” in Portland, Oregon, when she was only 15 years old in the year 2002. In 2006, she relocated to Seattle, Washington, from Portland, Oregon.

Jinkx attended Cornish College of the Arts, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theater in 2010 after working full-time and paying her own way through college.

Jinkx was included as the lead dancer in the “Guinness Book of World Records” most extensive drag queen chorus line ever assembled. By the year 2012, she had already established herself as a leading performer in Seattle theatres, having played parts such as Moritz in “Spring Awakening,” Angel in “RENT,” and the title character in “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.” She played the role of Velma Von Tussle in the 2013 production of “Hairspray the Musical.”

Monsoon, a trained vocalist, is one half of the musical pair “The Vaudevillians,” which is a 1920s revival performance. The other half of the combo is Richard Andriessen, also known as Major Scales. The Laurie Beechman Theater on Broadway in New York City was chosen for the performance after she was crowned the winner of Season 5.

Jinkx has also embarked on her own musical career, in addition to making an appearance on the well-known animated series “Steven Universe” as the voice actress for the character Emerald.
