John Hodgman Biography and Career:

John Kellogg Hodgman is a comedic author, actor, and comedian born in the United States on June 3, 1971. In addition to the written works he has published under his name, such as The Areas of My Expertise, More Information Than You Require, and That Is All, he is best known for his role as the personification of a personal computer (PC) in Apple’s “Get a Mac” advertising campaign, in contrast to Justin Long’s role as the personification of a personal computer (Mac), and for his work as a contributor on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

One tale (to which he gave the debut tale “Villanova”), The Paris Review, McSweeney’s Quarterly Concern, Wired, and The New York Times Magazine, for which he is editor of the humor section, are some of the publications that have featured his works. He has written for This American Life and the show Wiretap on CBC Radio One.

In 2005, he had his first book, The Areas of My Expertise, a satirical tongue-in-cheek almanac, released along with an accompanying audio narration. The book is virtually entirely devoid of factual information and is written in a tongue-in-cheek tone. Hodgman related the tragic story of the lobster, which he claimed was a small, furry, extinct species, killed and replaced by the creatures we think of as lobsters today.

During the performance, Coulton sang “Furry Old Lobster.”In addition, Hodgman made a second appearance on Attack of the Show on October 18, 2008, to discuss his most recent book, More Information Than You Require. Hodgman was featured in Apple Inc.’s Get a Mac advertising campaign during its North American run, which began in May 2006 and continued through 2010. Hodgman began using a Macintosh computer for the first time in 1984.
