Kelly Oubre Jr. Biography and Career:

Oubre was born to parents Kelly Oubre Jr. and Tonya Coleman in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is the couple’s second child and their second child overall (formerly Oubre). Oubre and his family had lived in the Magnolia public housing project from the time of Oubre’s birth until the beginning of his childhood. After moving to the Eastover neighborhood of New Orleans, they eventually made their home in the Magnolia public housing project, where they had resided from the time of Oubre’s birth until the beginning of his childhood.

During this time period, Oubre was a part of three different basketball teams that were connected with the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission, which was formerly known as the Milne Boys Home. He was a student at what was then known as Edward Hynes Elementary School but is now called Hynes Charter School. Following the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Oubre’s family made the decision to uproot their lives and move to Richmond, Texas.

Oubre finished his secondary education at George Bush High School in Fort Bend, Texas, before moving on to Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nevada, for his senior year of high school. Findlay Prep is located in the city of Henderson. In October of 2013, Oubre made public his intention to join the Kansas Jayhawks basketball program as a collegiate player. On November 16, 2020, the Oklahoma City Thunder acquired Chris Paul and Abdel Nader from the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for Oubre, Jalen Lecque, Ricky Rubio, and Ty Jerome.
