Kenny Chesney Biography and Career:
Kenneth Arnold Chesney, better known by his stage name Kenny, was born on March 26, 1968, in Knoxville, Tennessee. His full name is Kenneth Arnold Chesney. Both of his parents worked in the beauty industry; his father, David Chesney, taught elementary school, while his mother, Karen Chandler, was a hairstylist. Jennifer Chandler is his younger sister, and she is his only sibling. Kenny attended Gibbs High School when he was a young student. In the beginning, one of his goals was to establish himself as a prominent athlete.
However, he was only 5 feet and 8 inches tall, so he had no choice but to give up on that ambition. Kenny received his diploma from Gibbs High School in the year 1986. In the same year, his mother gave him his first guitar as a Christmas gift. She had bought it for him the year before. Soon after, he had the ability to play the guitar all by himself. In addition to this, he began writing songs around this period as well.
Kenny decided to pursue a degree in advertising at East Tennessee State University after completing his high school education at Gibbs High School. In the year 1987, he started his career as a performer in a low-key bar close to the location of his college, where he was paid $5 per hour. In 1989, Kenny published a musical CD that he had independently recorded and produced. He was able to purchase a new guitar using the proceeds from the sale of one thousand copies of the CD.
In 1990, Kenny Chesney received his degree in music from East Tennessee State University. After that, he moved to Nashville, where he started performing at small bars and eventually became the regular vocalist at a place called “The Turf.” Clay Bradley, who was the chief of writer relations at Broadcast Music at the time, was the one who discovered Kenny in 1992. It was at this point that he suggested that Kenny speak with Troy Tomlinson of Opryland Music Group.
Tomlinson was really taken aback by Kenny’s performance during the audition, during which he performed a total of five songs. Kenny walked away from the audition with a copy of the songwriter’s contract he had just signed. In 1993, Kenny was discovered by Capricorn Records when he was performing at an event for songwriters. His first studio album, titled “My Wildest Dream,” was issued by Capricorn Records in the year 1994.
Around 10,000 copies of the album were sold, and it yielded two chart singles on the Billboard country charts. The songs in question were titled “Whatever It Takes” and “The Tin Man.” BNA Records launched the release of Kenny’s second studio album, titled “All I Need to Know,” on June 13, 1995. While the single “Grandpa Told Me So” landed at number 23, the title track and another song, “Fall in Love,” both made it into the top 10.
In 1996, Kenny released the album titled “Me and You.” It was the first album of his to be certified gold. After that, in 1997, “I Will Stand” was released. The first song taken from this album, titled “She’s Got It All,” spent three consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard Country Chart. In 1999, he released his first studio album, titled “Everywhere We Go.” This album has since been certified platinum. It included well-known country songs including “How Forever Feels,” “You Had Me From Hello,” “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy,” “What I Need to Do,” and many more.
