Silverado, Cry Freedom, Grand Canyon, and Dave are some of his other movies. Since 2011, Kline has been in a lot of episodes of the animated comedy show Bob’s Burgers. Kline was born in St.

Louis, Missouri, in the United States. His parents are Margaret Agnes Kirk and Robert Joseph Kline (1909–1996). His father liked classical music and sang opera in his spare time. He also owned and ran The Record Bar, a record store in St. Louis that started selling records in the early 1940s and toys in the 1960s and 1970s. The family of his father also owned the department store chain Kline’s Inc.

Kline has said that his mother is “the dramatic theatre figure in our family” more than once. Kline’s father was Jewish and came from a family that moved from Germany to the U.S. He didn’t believe in any gods or religions, though. The woman who gave birth to Kline was a devout Catholic from Ireland’s County Louth. Her father was an immigrant, and so was her mother.

The Catholic beliefs of Kline’s mother had a big impact on how he was raised. Kate is his older sister, and Alexander and Christopher are the names of his two younger brothers. In 1965, he graduated from Saint Louis Priory School with a diploma. In 1997, the school gave him a tribute by naming its brand-new auditorium the Kevin Kline Theater.

Kline read a few pieces from Shakespeare at the dedication to raise money for charity. He went to school at Indiana University in Bloomington, and actor Jonathan Banks was one of his classmates there. He started school by studying music composition and conducting, but in his last two years, he switched his focus to theatre and speech. He graduated in 1970. This is what Kline said about his time in the theatre program: I only did theatre when I moved to the Theater Department Since this was my love, I could hardly get to class.

When he was a student, he helped start a theatre group called the Vest Pocket Players that met away from campus. Kline was given the scholarship to go to the Drama Division of the Juilliard School in New York City in its first year of operation. In 1972, he worked with other Juilliard graduates, such as Patti LuPone and David Ogden Stiers, to start the City Center Acting Company, which is now called The Acting Company.

At that time, John Houseman was in charge of the company’s art. The Company started what is now known as one of the best ensembles in the history of American repertory theatre by performing Shakespeare’s plays, other classical works, and the musical The Robber Bridegroom while traveling around the United States. When he was at Juilliard, Beverley Peck Johnson taught him how to sing. In 1976, Kline quit The Acting Company and went to live in New York City.

He played “Woody Reed” in a cameo role on the soap opera Search for Tomorrow, which has since been canceled. After this, he returned to the stage in 1977 as Clym Yeobright in Dance on a Country Grave, a musical version of Thomas Hardy’s The Return of the Native that was written by Kelly Hamilton and put on by the Hudson Guild Theater. Eustacia Vye, who was played by Donna Theodore, was his opposite in this role. In 1978, he won his first Tony Award for Harold Prince’s On the Twentieth Century, in which he played Bruce Granit, a parody of a matinée idol.

He was given the Tony Award for this performance. In 1981, The Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert and Sullivan was put on by the New York Shakespeare Festival in Central Park. Kline was in it with Linda Ronstadt and Rex Smith. Kline won another Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical for his role as the Pirate King, which he played in a funny and dashing way.

In 1983, he played the role in a movie version of the musical with Ronstadt, Smith, and Angela Lansbury. The movie was shown in a few theatres. Over the next few years, Kline took part in many Shakespeare plays at the New York Shakespeare Festival.
