Kevin Owens Biography and Career:

Kevin Yanick Steen is a professional wrestler who hails from both France and Canada. He is currently under contract with World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc., better known as WWE. Under the ring name Kevin Owens, he competes in the WWE’s Raw brand, which is one of the company’s several brands.

After viewing about on videotape at WrestleMania XI with his father, he made the decision to pursue a career as a professional wrestler instead of pursuing other options. He began his wrestling career when he was 16 years old and went on to accomplish several things while wrestling under his real name before signing with WWE. While competing for Ring of Honor, he was successful enough to win both the ROH World Championship and the ROH World Tag Team Championship (ROH). He has extensive experience wrestling on the independent circuit, having competed there for 14 years.

During that time, he has accomplished many things, including setting a record for the number of times to win the PWG World Championship in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG). In addition to that, he wrestled for International Wrestling Syndicate and took home the title of World Heavyweight Champion three times (IWS). His resume in WWE includes victories for titles like the NXT Championship once, the United States Championship three times, the Intercontinental Championship twice, and the Universal Championship once. He also held the Universal Championship.

He was the son of Terry Steen and Suzanne Steen and was born on May 7, 1984, in the town of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, which is located in the province of Quebec in Canada. He comes from a family with roots in both France and Canada. There is also a brother who goes by the name of Edward Lower. Even though English isn’t his native language, Steen is able to communicate in French.

In his teenage years, he picked up the latter language by tuning in to Monday Night Raw and mimicking the commentary he heard there. After seeing Diesel and Shawn Michaels from WrestleMania XI on videotape with his father, Steen decided that he wanted to pursue a career as a professional wrestler, despite the fact that as a youngster he participated in a variety of sports, including soccer, hockey, and baseball. When he was 14 years old, he began his training in wrestling under the tutelage of Serge Jodoin. When he was 15 years old, Jacques Rougeau took him under his wing and instructed him.

Terry Taylor, who he believes to be his “primary teacher,” was another instructor whom he underwent instruction with. It was on his 16th birthday, May 7, 2000, in the city of L’Assomption, Quebec, that he participated in his first wrestling contest. Following his wrestling run with the Rougeau organization, which lasted for four years, he competed for a number of other Canadian companies. His first match with the International Wrestling Syndicate (IWS) was at Born to Bleed, which took place on August 16, 2003.

The next year, he defeated El Generico to capture his first IWS World Heavyweight Championship. He established a precedent by being the first champion in the history of the promotion to successfully defend his championship outside of the country. In a match held for Jersey All Pro Wrestling in Rahway, New Jersey, on October 30, 2004, he was victorious in defending the championship by defeating Roderick Strong. On February 16, 2008, he was defeated by El Generico at Violent Valentine for the IWS World Heavyweight Championship.

However, he regained the title on March 22, 2008, after winning a 3-Way Match against Max Boyer and El Generico at Know Your Enemies. On May 24, 2008, he became the first-ever wrestler to simultaneously hold two IWS titles when he won the IWS Canadian Championship title by defeating Max Boyer in an IWS Championship Unification Match that was held at the Freedom to Fight event. This victory made him the first-ever wrestler to hold two IWS titles at the same time. Meanwhile, on September 10, 2004, he debuted in Combat Zone Wrestling for the first time (CZW).

He secured his place as the CZW Iron Man Champion by virtue of a victory against Franky The Mobster in August of 2005. In 2006, he was defeated in a steel cage battle at CZW Trapped by a female wrestler named LuFisto, who went on to win the championship. Other competitors in the fight were Eddie Kingston, The Forefathers of CZW, The Canadians, and The Blackout. After suffering such a defeat, he parted ways with CZW but eventually made his way back to the company on two separate occasions: first in February 2008 for a single match and again in 2014 for a pair of bouts.

While this was going on, he also started wrestling for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG) in 2005, and on August 6, 2006, he defeated A. J. Styles to win the PWG Championship title. This match took place at Zombies [Shouldn’t Run]. Later on, Joey Ryan defeated him at Chanukah Chaos (The C’s Are Silent), and he was stripped of his title. At the fourth annual Giant-Size event, which took place on July 29, 2007, Steen and El Generico defeated PAC and Roderick Strong to win the PWG World Tag Team Championship. PAC and Strong had been the titleholders for the previous year.

On March 21, 2008, Steen and El Generico won an impromptu contest against The Dynasty, which consisted of Joey Ryan and Scott Lost. The match was for the PWG World Tag Team Championship, which Steen and El Generico had previously held. The tag team consisting of Steen and El Generico was victorious in the annual Dynamite Duumvirate Tag Team Title Tournament, becoming the first PWG World Tag Team Champions in the history of the organization to successfully defend their championship in every match they competed in (DDT4).
