Kirk Franklin Biography and Career:

Kirk Franklin was born on January 26, 1970, in the city of Fort Worth, Texas. He is known as the “Reigning King of Urban Gospel,” and he has been given that title by many publications. Franklin’s true mother abandoned him when he was a small boy, and his aunt Gertrude was responsible for raising him once she took custody of him. His aunt Gertrude started saving aluminum cans when Franklin was just four years old so that she could pay for his piano lessons. Franklin had already shown such a high level of musical aptitude at such an early age that he was given his first recording contract when he was only seven years old.
