Opioid: Frankel feels that the opioid issue is a national catastrophe, that it takes so many lives, especially young lives, and places unbelievable demand on medical and emergency infrastructure. Since the arrival of Congress in 2013, Rep. Frankel has been a member of the Bipartisan Heroin Task Force and has taken responsibility of the increasing sober home and opioid crisis in the Palm Beach County. Since her early stint in Congress, she pulled together local stakeholders and Federal government leaders to defend addicts who are exploited by fraudulent sober house facilities.

As a result of its advocacy, the Housing and Urban Development Department (HUD) and the Justice Department (DOJ), in November 2016, issued an updated joint declaration that protects people’s rights in the rehabilitation of drug addicts while providing cities with legal clarity to regulate group homes. Frankel hosted roundtables in July 2017 with the AV and medical experts, leading to the Palm Beach Medical Society establishing an opioid task group and executing a pilot programme to reduce over-prescription of opioids. Congresswoman Frankel on Capitol Hill is a staunch supporter of the AffordableCare Act, which demands that insurance companies cover the treatment of addiction.
