Luis Fonsi Biography and Career:

Luis Alfonso Rodrguez López-Cepero, better known by his stage name Luis Fonsi , is a Puerto Rican singer. He was born on April 15, 1978. One of the songs he is well-known for is “Despacito,” which he co-wrote with the rapper Daddy Yankee.The song “Aqu Estoy Yo” helped Fonsi get his first Latin Grammy Award nominations in the Record of the Year category and win Song of the Year. Additionally, three Billboard Latin Music Awards went to the single.

The song “Despacito” became Fonsi’s biggest hit, garnering nominations for three Grammy Awards, four Latin Grammy Awards, seven Billboard Latin Music Awards, and five Billboard Music Awards. For “Échame la Culpa” alongside Demi Lovato, he also received a Latin American Music Award.With “Despacito,” which had a music video with over 7 billion views as of November 2018, Fonsi had broken six Guinness World Records and sold more than 11 million records as of 2018.

The oldest child of Alfonso Rodriguez and Delia López-Cepero, Fonsi was born on April 15, 1978 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Tatiana Rodrguez and Jean Rodrguez, also singers, are two of his younger siblings.Fonsi grew up idolising the members of the San Juan Children’s Choir and the well-known ensemble Menudo.When he was ten years old, his family made the decision to transfer to Orlando, Florida, leaving Puerto Rico.He attended Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando as well as Westridge Middle School there.

Fonsi recorded Comenzaré, his debut album, in 1998. (I Will Begin). The singles “Si T Quisieras,” “Perdóname,” “Dime Como,” and “Me Iré” were on the album, which peaked at number 11 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart.  Comenzaré became popular in Puerto Rico and throughout Latin America, with Fonsi succeeding in nations like Colombia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Mexico, and Venezuela. The Bieber-featuring remix peaked at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 for the week of May 27, 2017, becoming Bieber’s fifth number-one song overall and the first for Fonsi, Yankee, and Fonsi. At one of his concerts in Puerto Rico, Bieber promoted the remix by bringing Fonsi on stage to sing the duet with him. The song tied One Sweet Day by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men for the longest reigning top song in the history of the chart with its 16 straight weeks at the top.

On August 15, 2017, Fonsi was named the island of Puerto Rico’s tourism ambassador.He released “Échame la Culpa” in November 2017, a single with Demi Lovato that debuted at number three on the Hot Latin chart.The song was nominated for an MTV Video Music Award for Best Latin and went on to win Song of the Year at the 2018 Latin American Music Awards. The song had sold over a million copies globally as of 2018.

Fonsi and Stefflon Don released the song “Calypso” in June 2018. The song’s position on the Hot Latin chart peaked at number 11.
