Maren Morris Biography and Career:

As of the end of June 2018, Maren Larae Morris has recorded four studio albums and a plethora of singles as a successful American country singer, songwriter, and record producer. Her most recent release, Hero, is also her first studio album on a big label. The song topped the Billboard charts in the United States.

Morris has been releasing music professionally since 2005, with many hits (including “My Church” and “The Middle”) rated platinum. These songs were included on the most popular music charts and sold hundreds of thousands of copies. Her other hit songs, including “80s Mercedes” and “I Could Use a Love Song,” have earned gold certifications from their respective certifying bodies.

In 2017, the brilliant country singer’s track “My Church” was recognized as the Best Country Solo Performance by the Grammys. She has a successful solo career, but she also often works with other musicians. In reaction to the massacre on the Las Vegas Strip in 2017, she and Vince Gill collaborated to produce the song “Dear Hate.”

When Maren Morris was twelve years old, her father surprised her by giving her a guitar. She taught herself guitar and developed a passion for singing on her own. Her first studio album, Walk On, was released on June 14, 2005, via Mozzi Bozzi Music. All That It Takes, her second studio album, was released through Smith Entertainment on October 22, 2007.

Morris continued her search for a big label willing to sign her for her third studio album, but she was unsuccessful. In 2011, she followed through with Mozzi Blozzi Music and released her third studio album, named Live Wire.

Morris self-released a collection of five songs under her own name after being rejected by major record labels for her upcoming effort. It may now be heard on the streaming service Spotify. There was a lot of interest from major agencies since the tracks had over 2.5 million Spotify streams and downloads. The EP’s tracks were reissued by Columbia Nashville in September 2015, with “My Church” as the first single after Morris signed with the label.

The EP reached #1 on the Top Heatseekers chart and #27 on the Country Albums chart, two of Billboard’s most prominent lists. It debuted at #5 on the Hot Country Songs list and went on to sell over 2,400 copies in its first week, earning the album a gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America for its first song, “My Church.” In 2017, she received the Best Country Solo Performance Grammy for her song “My Church.”

Morris’s maiden big label studio album was released by Columbia Nashville after the success of her EP and the song “My Church.” Released on June 3, 2016, ‘Hero’ included hit hits such as ‘Rich,’ ‘I Could Use a Love Song,’ and ’80s Mercedes. It was well acclaimed and topped Rolling Stone’s list of the 40 best country albums of 2016.

Additionally, it was placed at #9 on Billboard’s ’50 Best Albums of 2016′ list. With the popularity of the record, Morris was recognized as the New Artist of the Year by the Country Music Association. Within the United States alone, it sold approximately 286,900 copies.

Born on April 10th, 1990 in Arlington, Texas, Maren Larae Morris is a native Texan. Her parents, Kellie and Greg Morris owned and operated a salon. Karsen is the name of her younger sister. She used to spend much of her time at the beauty parlor her parents owned when she was a little kid. Following her graduation from James Bowie High School, she enrolled at the University of North Texas. On March 24, 2018, Morris wed Ryan Hurd, a fellow country music performer.

Morris’s parents, Greg and Kellie, gave birth to him in Arlington, Texas. Her family ran the long-running Maren Karsen Aveda Salon in Arlington, where she learned the trade. Morris’ formative years were spent working at a beauty parlor. She progressed to roles such as guest coordinator and front desk clerk throughout her time there.

She was active in both the school choir and the drama and soccer programs throughout her primary school years. Sometimes at a party at her parents’ salon, Morris realized she had a voice. Karaoke renditions of Patsy Cline and LeAnn Rimes tunes were among her offerings. Greg Morris was so impressed by his daughter’s innate singing talent that he began actively pushing her to perform.

Johnnie High was a country music revue that included some of her first appearances. For Morris, “this [singing] is my calling” from that point on. Her father gifted her with a guitar when she was 12 years old, prompting her to begin composing music. Also, Morris kept attending to regular public school. She continued playing soccer at James Bowie High School in Arlington. The painting and writing courses were her favorites.

At age 11, Morris began performing around her native Texas. Her dad was her manager and agent in the industry. Bars and clubs in Dallas and Fort Worth were regular stops for Morris. She reflected on how she had “this weekend job” playing music while her peers attended sleepovers.

A trip to a Grammy camp in 2005 was her first time on an airplane without an adult. Morris, along with a select group of other high school kids from throughout the nation, was invited to participate in a camp hosted by the Grammy Foundation.

In seminars, she was able to interact with professionals from the music business. Morris, at the tender age of 15, presented the world with her first studio album, titled Walk On, in 2005. Featuring 10 songs of original music, the album was issued on the indie Mozzi Bozzi label.

Her mom, Kellie Morris, says that she and her husband “essentially sold the furniture out of the home” to pay for the album’s production and distribution. Morris’s second studio album, titled All That It Takes, was released in 2007 via Smith Music. The majority of the songs on this project were created by her, much like her debut album.

Morris, while she was still a teenager, tried out for several reality singing competitions, such as American Idol, America’s Got Talent, The Voice, and Nashville Star. She tried out for every single TV program and was denied. Morris’s music would be utilized in the program years later by competitors.

Morris also played keyboards and sang harmony for a teen band called They Were Stars when she was a teen. Morris went to the University of North Texas for a semester after he graduated from high school, but he dropped out. Her third studio album, named Live Wire, was released in 2011 on the Mozzi Bozzi label.

Kacey Musgraves, a friend she’d made in Texas’s music scene, was a guest at the time. Morris was urged to join Musgraves in Nashville, Tennessee, by Musgraves herself. Morris packed his U-Haul trailer after accumulating enough money to make the trip to Nashville.

Morris’s first year in Music City was spent making connections with other authors and establishing a network. Big Yellow Dog Music’s Carla Wallace was the one to introduce them. After hearing her songs, Wallace was so impressed that he offered her a four-year contract to write songs for the firm. She collaborated with other songwriters and started composing songs together.

Several country performers quickly covered her songs. Tim McGraw kicked off the trend with his song “Last Turn Home,” which appeared on his album Sundown Heaven Town that same year. Kelly Clarkson also recorded a new song titled “Second Wind” for her 2015 album Piece by Piece.
