Marty Griffin, originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is an American investigative reporter and radio talk show host who presently works for KDKA-TV and KDKA-AM radio. He was born in Pittsburgh and raised in Pennsylvania. The Pittsburgh native earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ohio University and began his professional life as a reporter in Wichita Falls, Texas, before relocating to the Dallas area, where he worked as an investigative reporter for the NBC station KXAS.
The next year, he traveled to Pittsburgh, where he began working for KDKA-TV as well as KDKA-FM radio station. The Inside Story with Marty Griffin, which airs on KDKA Radio on a weekly basis, is another of his broadcasts. Following an investigation into claimed poor security at a Port Authority of Allegheny County bus garage, his conviction for defiant trespass was upheld by the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas in 2005.
In 2006, he was found guilty and sentenced to prison. The charge was thrown out in 2006 on the grounds of freedom of expression, according to the court. Griffin detained Brent Dugan, 60, a minister at the Community Presbyterian Church of Ben Avon, and interrogated him about his visit to an adult shop in the McKeesport neighborhood of Pittsburgh.
Dugan committed suicide in a Mercer County hotel room in November 2006 after being interrogated by Griffin. It was never revealed who the man in the advertisement was, but KDKA chose not to air the segment after learning that Dugan might constitute a threat to himself and his coworkers.
