Nasir jones Biography and Career:

“Nas,” sometimes known as Nasty Nas, is an American rapper and composer who rose to prominence in the 1990s East Coast hip-hop scene under the stage name Nasir bin Lou Dara Jones (born September 14, 1973, Brooklyn, New York, United States). Nas earned a reputation as a vivid recorder of inner-city street life via his emotive lyrics.

Despite being the son of a jazz musician, Nasir Jones grew up in public housing in the borough of Queens, New York. Having walked out of school in the eighth grade, he looked for a creative outlet, which he eventually found in hip-hop music. His breakthrough occurred in 1992, when his song “Half Time” (credited to Nasty Nas) featured on the soundtrack of the film Zebrahead, which was released in theatres that year. Soon after, he was signed to a recording deal with Columbia Records.

He received worldwide recognition for his first album as Nas, Climatic (1994), which was praised for its lyrical depiction of hard-edged inner-city existence. In 1996, Nas released It Was Written, which was more pop-oriented than its predecessor, and which helped that album reach an even wider audience than its predecessor.

However, it also triggered a recurring conflict in Naas’s career between the appetite of the pop audience and the demands of hip-hop purists. Despite the fact that he had already gotten entangled in a public spat with fellow rapper Jay-Z about who was the premier voice in East Coast hip-hop, he managed to retain his mainstream appeal with I Am… (1999).

In 2001, Nas released Stillmatic, which many fans thought to be a return to form. The split also inspired the more personal God’s Son (2002), which was written in reaction to the loss of Naas’s mother and was also a response to the death of Naas’s father. The two rappers officially reconciled their disputes in 2005, and Nas soon after joined with Def Jam, which at the time was headed by Jay-Z as its president.

Hip Hop Is Dead (2006) and an unnamed follow-up (2008) were defined by Naas’s proclivity for provocative lyrics, whilst Life Is Good (2012) was more contemplative in nature. He also worked with reggae singer Damian Marley (the youngest son of Bob Marley) on the album Distant Relatives, which was a notable collaboration (2010).

Many critics found Kanye West’s Nasir (2018), which he produced, to be unsatisfactory, not least because it neglected to address charges of abuse made by his former wife, singer Keli’s (2005–10). However, the next year’s release, King’s Disease (2020), which was produced by Hit-Boy, had none of the flaws that reviewers had identified in the prior film and received almost unanimous acclaim.

On the television programme Who Do You Think You Are? (2010), he discovered that his Y-DNA (patrilineal DNA line) can be traced back to Scandinavia. It turns out that he is a first cousin once removed of actresses and models Yara Shahidi and Sayeed Shahidi, as well as their father. The Shahidi’s’ maternal great-grandparents were Ella Mae and Charles Rufus Jones, Nas’ maternal grandparents. Ella Mae and Charles Rufus Jones were the Shahidi’s’ maternal great-grandparents.

Nas, born Nasir bin Lou Dara Jones on September 14, 1973, is the son of Lou Dara, a jazz musician who is known for his unusual style. In the mid-1980s, when he was nine years old, he became a member of the Devastating’ Seven, the fruits of which can be heard on his 1994 debut album, “Climatic,” which was released on Columbia/SME the following year.

Among the reasons it gained notice was Naps’ unwillingness to include the sexism and violence that may be found in certain hip-hop, as well as his portrayal of ghetto life. Naas’s first recorded performance was on the Main Source classic “Live at the Barbecue,” which was released in 1992.

A line in “Halftime” on the soundtrack of Zebrahead (1992) by former 3rd Bass member ‘MC Search’ gave him his big break, and he was signed to Search’s management business, Searchlight Productions, which led to a management agreement with the company. Among Naas’s subsequent albums are “It Was Written,” “I Am…,” “Nostradamus,” “Stillmatic,” “From Climatic to Stillmatic,” “The Lost Tapes Vol. 1,” and “God’s Son.”

Naas’s most recent studio album is “Stillmatic.” His father and him collaborated on a hip-hop/blues song called “Bridging the Gap,” which was released on the album “Street’s Disciple.” The singer-songwriter has a younger brother called Jabari (Jungle), with whom he created the music group “Braveheart’s.”

In his successful song “It Ain’t Hard to Tell,” he used a sample from Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature.” He has released many solo albums, including “Climatic,” “I Am…”, “Nostradamus,” “Stillmatic,” “God’s Son,” “The Lost Tapes,” “Street’s Disciple,” “Hip Hop Is Dead,” and “Untitled (N).” His most recent album  in these compilations are work with the bands “The Firm,” “Distant Relatives,” “Braveheart’s,” and the compilation album “QB’s Finest.”

He and Kelsi are expecting their first kid on January 14, 2009, which will be their first child together. Knight Jones, our son, was born on July 22, 2009. He weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces.
