Nick Vujicic Biography and Career:

In 1982, Dushka and Boris Vujicic welcomed a son, Nick, into the world in Melbourne, Australia. Despite being perfectly healthy, Nick was born without arms or legs. Instead, he had two little feet, one of which had two toes. Aaron and Michelle are Nick’s two siblings. Initially, despite having no mental impairment, Nick was prohibited from attending a mainstream school by a Victoria state statute because of a physical impediment.

Once those regulations changed, though, Vujicic became one of the first physically challenged pupils integrated into a regular school. His absence of limbs, however, made him a target for school bullies, and he developed a serious case of despair. He first thought of committing suicide when he was eight years old, and at age 10, he even made an attempt in his bathtub, but was stopped by his love for his parents. He added that God has a plan for his life and that he could not bring himself to drown because of this in the music video for “Something More.”

Nick fervently pleaded to God asking him to grant him arms and legs. At first, Nick threatened God that he would stop praising him if his prayer went unanswered. But when his mother showed him a newspaper article about a man living with a serious impairment, it was a pivotal juncture in his spiritual journey. After realising that he was not alone in his challenges, Vujicic started to accept the fact that he was limbless. Nick was grateful for his life after realising his achievements could motivate others.

Nick gradually learned to modify many of the daily tasks that people with limbs do without thinking in order to live a full existence. With two toes on his left foot and a unique grasp that slid onto his big toe, Nick writes. Using the “heel and toe” technique, he can type up to 45 words per minute and is proficient with computers. Along with playing golf, swimming, and even skydiving, he has also picked up skills such as tennis ball throwing, playing the drums, getting a glass of water, combing his hair, brushing his teeth, answering the phone, and shaving.

He was chosen as the MacGregor State captain at high school in Queensland, and he collaborated with the student government on fundraising activities for neighbourhood charities and campaigns for people with disabilities. At the age of seventeen, he began to speak to his prayer group.
