Olly Murs Biography and Career:

Oliver Murs, most often referred to as “Olly.” The phenomenal English pop singer, songwriter, actor, and television personality Murs hails from the United Kingdom. Prior to his success on the sixth season of the singing reality program ‘The X Factor’ in 2009, Olly was employed at a call center. He advanced to the final round of the competition with Stacey Solomon and Joe McElderry, but ultimately he was deemed to be the runner-up and Joe McElderry was awarded the championship.

However, his ability to adapt to a variety of styles and his widespread appeal contributed to the extraordinary success of his career in the music business. Beginning with the release of his first song, “Please Don’t Let Me Go,” and continuing through the release of his self-titled debut album, Murs quickly rose to the top of a number of foreign music charts, achieving global renown.

Following the critical and commercial success of his first album, he has issued a total of four additional studio albums. Olly has been a presenter on the television program’ The Xtra Factor and ‘Text Santa,’ in addition to pursuing a career in acting with a guest appearance in the American teen drama 90210.’ This is in addition to his thriving career as a musician, which is in its early stages of development.

His most recent album, titled “24 Hrs,” reached number one on the “UK Official Charts Company” and was awarded the platinum certification by the “British Phonographic Industry.” Olly’s career as a singer has spanned six years, during which time he has collaborated with reputable record companies in the United Kingdom such as “Epic Records” and “Syco Music,” and he has even inked a record contract with “Columbia Records” in the United States.

On May 14, 1984, in the town of Witham, Essex, he was given the name Oliver Stanley Murs by his parents, Vicky-Lynn and Pete Murs. Olly Murs grew up in close proximity to both of his siblings, his twin brother Ben Murs and his sister Fay Murs.

He first attended “Howbridge Junior School” in Witham and then moved on to “Notley High School” in Braintree, Essex when he was older. Olly’s high school years gave the impression that he was more interested in athletics than in music; he even played striker for the football team at his school.

His love for football only became stronger over the years, and he eventually won the “Ridgeons Reserve Team’s Cup” after scoring 12 goals in just 13 appearances over the course of the season. Unfortunately, his football career was cut short by an injury, which was a huge disappointment to everyone.

His enthusiasm for music eventually got the best of him, and he tried out for ‘The X Factor,’ but he wasn’t able to go through the auditions each time. He started working as a consultant at the company known as “Prime Appointments,” and he also joined a local covers band known as “Small Town Blaggers.”

After deciding to go on a solo trip to the east coast in 2008, he came back after three months with a more determined attitude to make it to the live shows of “The X Factor.” He then tried out for the competition once more in 2009, and this time he made it through all of the elimination rounds without being eliminated.

During his audition for the judges on “The X Factor,” Murs sang Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition.” Following his selection, he proceeded to the “boot camp” phase, during which he sang the Elton John classic “Your Song,” and he quickly emerged as a formidable candidate for the live stage presentations.

He sailed through the live concerts, screaming out songs like “She’s the One,” “A Fool in Love,” and “Bewitched.” The people voted for him, and he made it all the way to the finals. In the closing performance, he sang a duet with his musical hero Robbie Williams, performing the song “Angels.”

However, he did not emerge victorious in the competition and was instead placed in second place behind his rival Joe McElderry. But that wasn’t the end of it for Olly; the next day, he received an opportunity to perform with Robbie Williams once again at the “Soccer Aid” event.

In 2010, he acquired a contract with two of the most successful musical companies in the United Kingdom, namely Epic Records and Syco Music. When he was working on his debut album, he collaborated with a number of notable musicians and music industry figures, including John Shanks, Eg White, Trevor Horn, Wayne Hector, Martin Brammer, Mark Taylor, Chris Difford, and many others. These musicians contributed to the album in various capacities.

A song named “Please Don’t Let Me Go” was released to radio on August 27 of that year, not long after the huge news that he would be releasing his debut studio album. It reached number one on a number of charts, including the UK Albums Chart, which was achieved by the album titled “Olly Murs.”

Already in 2011, he started working on his upcoming second studio album, which is going to be named “In Case You Didn’t Know.” He made the announcement in July that the title of the first single would be “Heart Skips a Beat,” and it was first played on “The Chris Moyles Show” on July 7, 2011.

By the 14th of October 2011, the song “Dance with Me Tonight,” which was the second single from the album, has become one of the most requested songs on the radio. After its release on November 28th, the album immediately climbed to the top of the “UK Albums Chart,” where it has remained ever since.
It wasn’t long before he started working on his third studio album, which was going to be titled “Right Place Right Time” and will be released by Columbia Records. The album has received the “4 x Platinum” certification from the “BPI.”

Later on, he revealed that his next fourth studio album, titled Never Been Better, will be released in 2014 and that it would have collaborations with Demi Lovato, Wayne Hector, Steve Robson, and Claude Kelly.
The first single from the album, named “Wrapped Up,” was released to radio on November 16 of that year. The second and third songs from the album, titled “Up” and “Seasons,” were released not long after the first single.

The second single from the album was titled “Up,” and it included vocals by Demi Lovato. The song peaked at number four on the “UK Singles Chart.” In addition, he launched a companion EP on Google Play titled “Unwrapped,” which received a comparable amount of attention.

Early in 2016, after an impressive run of success, Olly went back into the studio to begin production on his fifth studio album, which was named “24 Hrs.” On July 8th, he released the first single from the album, which was titled “You Don’t Know Love.”

At the “British Summer Time Concert” in Hyde Park, London, which was headlined by the English pop group “Take That,” he promoted his record by performing as a supporting act.
