Patton Oswalt is a stand-up comedian and actor who is from the United States. He has made appearances in a number of popular comedic shows as well as films. Additionally, he is the creator of his own successful comedy albums. Patton, whose father was a Marine Corps officer, did not seem like the type of person who would pursue a career in comedy, but that is exactly what he was destined to do.

When he was a kid, his favorite things to do were to read comic books and watch scary movies. In addition, he had an appreciation for comedy from a young age and looked up to comedic performers such as Steve Martin, Richard Pryor, and Jonathan Winters for motivation. He started writing and performing comedy while he was still in high school, and he quickly came to the conclusion that comedy should be his career.

It was pure chance that brought him together with Blaine Capatch, who would go on to become his long-term friend and business partner.

Together with Capatch, he uprooted his life and moved to Los Angeles in the hope of pursuing a career in writing and performing comedy. At first, he was only able to secure supporting roles in various television programs. His big break came when he was chosen to play ‘Spence Olchin’ in ‘The King of Queens.’ He had been steadily working his way up to more significant roles as time went on.

After that, things started looking up for him professionally, and he eventually achieved the level of success as a comedian that he had always envisioned for himself. Patton Oswalt was born to Larry Oswalt and Carla, his wife, in Portsmouth, Virginia, in the United States of America on January 27, 1969. Because Larry was an officer in the United States Marine Corps, his family relocated quite frequently due to the nature of his job.

He received his diploma from Virginia’s ‘Broad Run High School’ in the year 1987 after attending that institution. He attended the “College of William & Mary,” where he focused his studies on English and ultimately received his degree in that discipline in the year 1991.

In 1988, he performed his first stand-up comedy act at an open mic in Washington, District of Columbia. At the time, he was still a student. Soon after, he launched his comedic career by playing in local bars and clubs in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.

He met the promising comedian Blaine Capatch when he was playing in the clubs, and the two of them quickly became fast friends. In 1992, the two individuals decided to make the journey to San Francisco to seek their fortunes there. In 1994, they relocated to Los Angeles after relocating from San Francisco.

In 1995, Oswalt was able to get a position as a writer for the brand-new comedy program titled “MAD TV.” After working there for a total of two seasons, he made his debut on the HBO Half-Hour Comedy Hour in the year 1997.

In 1998, he was given a major break when he was cast in the supporting role of “Spencer “Spence” Olchin” in the immensely successful comedy “The King of Queens.” Up to 2007, he appeared in 122 episodes as this character.
