Phil Williams Biography and Career:

Phillip W. Williams Jr. is a politician, radio programme presenter, and attorney who hails from the state of Alabama in the United States of America. He was born on March 20, 1965. Williams was a member of the Republican Party and served in the Alabama Senate from 2010 to 2018, representing the 10th district. This district includes portions of Etowah County and Cherokee County and includes Etowah County in its entirety. Williams has worked as the policy director for the Alabama Policy Institute and is the host of a conservative radio show called Rightside Radio since he left his position in the state senate.

On March 20, 1965, Williams entered the world in the town of Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. As a member of a family that had strong links to the United States Army, he had to uproot his family rather regularly. He received his high school education at Grissom High School in Huntsville, Alabama, and then continued his education at the University of South Alabama after graduating. During his time there, he participated in the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps, or ROTC, and in 1987, he was awarded a commission in the ROTC. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the university in 1989.

Williams was a graduate of the Combined Arms and Service Staff School as well as the United States Army Command and General Staff College. He served in the United States Army Reserve on a part-time basis and was a member of several airborne units as well as the 20th Special Forces Group. Williams eventually attained the rank of lieutenant colonel during his time in the military. Following the events that took place on September 11, Williams served two combat deployments, the first of which was in Afghanistan in 2002, and the second of which was in Iraq in 2004. Following his victory over Paul Peloquin in the primary election, Williams moved on to challenge the Democratic state senator incumbent Larry Means in the general election. Williams has stated that he intends to “promote fiscal conservatism and limit government intervention in daily lives.” Means has been in office since 2006.

One of the state senators reportedly told Mike Hubbard that Means was so pleased with Williams that he would have voted for Williams if he hadn’t been running against him. Mike Hubbard relayed this information. Williams discussed his campaign with politicians John Ross and J. T. Waggoner. With the assistance of a strategic team that included Hubbard (a future Speaker of the Alabama House of Representatives) and consultant Tim Howe, Williams worked on finding ways to introduce himself to voters. Hubbard eventually became the Speaker of the Alabama House of Representatives.

The state senator Del Marsh contributed money to Williams’ campaign, which, over the course of time, helped boost Williams’ name recognition among the district’s voters.
