Robert De Niro Biography and Career:
Robert De Niro, Jr. was born in Greenwich Village, New York City, the son of Robert De Niro, Sr., and Virginia Holton Admiral. As a child, his father was an abstract expressionist sculptor and painter and his mother was a poet and artist. When he was three years old, his parents divorced, and he was raised by his mother. In spite of this, Niro’s father had regular touch with him and had a significant impact on his upbringing. PS 41, Elisabeth Irwin High School, and Little Red School House were all part of his early schooling.
He made his acting debut in a school production of ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ playing the Cowardly Lion. His first appearance on a stage set the stage for the rest of his life. After completing his secondary school education at McBurney School, he transferred to Rhodes Preparatory School. However, he dropped out of both and began pursuing a career in acting. Later, he went to Lee Strasberg’s Actors Studio after finishing his training at Stella Adler Conservatory. In 1976, he married Diahnne Abbot. Raphael was born as a result of the union of the couple.
Drena, Abbott’s ex-daughter, wives were adopted by him. In 1988, the two parted ways. A surrogate mother delivered his twin kids through in vitro fertilization in 1995 out of his relationship with Toukie Smith, who was pregnant at the time. He married Grace Hightower for the second time in 1997. Elliot was born the following year to the couple. Despite the fact that they divorced in 1998 (not formally, though), they re-married in 2004. Helen Grace, their first child, was born in 2011 as a result of this.
A tiny role opposite Jill Clayburgh in the film, ‘The Wedding Party, launched his acting career in 1963. However, the picture premiered in the theatres in 1969. Three Rooms In Manhattan and Les Jeunes Loups were two of his first cameo roles in the movies, which made him eligible for an Oscar nomination. Greetings, his debut starring role, was released in 1968. The year 1973 can be considered a turning point in the career of this young star.
This year saw the release of two of his films, ‘Bang The Drum Slowly’ and ‘Mean Streets,’ both of which received high praise and critical acclaim. As in ‘Bang the Drum Slowly,’ he played a terminally ill baseball player perfectly, but in ‘Mean Streets,’ he portrayed a small-time thief Johnny Boy. The publication of Francis Ford Coppola’s ‘The Godfather Part II’ in 1974 pushed him to the top of the acting ranks. The Academy Award he earned for his portrayal of Vito Corleone was a result of this performance.
His friendship with filmmaker Martin Scorsese blossomed with the success of “Mean Streets,” and he appeared in several of Scorsese’s other notable films. Niro-‘Taxi Scorsese’s Driver’ was one of these films, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 1976. He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for his amazing performance and impressive ability to deliver words. Others released in 1976 include Bernardo Bertolucci’s epic biographical investigation of Italian life before World War II, and Elia Kazan’s “The Last Tycoon,” which chronicled the life and times of a wealthy businessman.
His acting was lauded by both the crowd and the critics, despite the poor box office performance of his films. He had good news at the beginning of the 1980s decade.. He portrayed Jake La Motta in the film ‘Raging Bull’ by Martin Scorsese. Filmgoers were unimpressed, while critics were enthusiastic.
He earned an Academy Award for Best Actor because of his ability to play a variety of characters. Accurate comic timing was demonstrated in the flicks “The King of Comedy,” “Brazil,” and “Midnight Run” as part of his effort to break out of his mafia hero role and attempt new things. ‘Goodfellas’ (1990) was a big success for this outstanding actor in the 1990s, and he had a successful decade ahead of him.
‘A Bronx Tale, his first directorial effort, was released three years later. He finished the decade with ‘Analyze This’ (1999), a satire of mob flicks that was a huge success. In 2000, he teamed up with Ben Stiller for his next project, “Meet the Parents,” continuing his tradition of comedic roles. ‘Meet the Fockers’ and ‘Little Fockers’ were spawned by the success of the original film. The sequels, on the other hand, were likewise a commercial success and a big hit. ‘Analyze That,’ his role as Paul Vitti from the 1999 comedy ‘Analyze This,’ was revisited by him in 2002.
The same year, he hosted a CBS program about the September 11, 2001 attacks, titled “9/11.” It was in 2004 that he provided the voice for Don Limo in the animated picture, “Shark Tale.” For the first time in his life, he had a chance to do voice work. In 2006, he returned to the director’s chair for the spy thriller ‘The Good Shepherd’. Matt Damon and Angelina Jolie were also in the cast. Machete, the action-packed film directed by Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis in 2010, saw him play Senator John McLaughlin. ‘Stone’, starring Edward Norton and Milla Jovovich, was released in the same year.
Acting in a variety of genres in 2011 proved that De Niro is a versatile actor. ‘Killer Elite’ was his first picture, followed by ‘Limitless,’ an adaptation of the novel ‘The Dark Fields. ‘New Year’s Eve’ by Garry Marshall was the final film of the year for him. In 2012, he got an Academy Award nod for his role in the film ‘Silver Linings Playbook,’ during which he showed no signs of slowing down. Freelancers, Red Lights, and Being Flynn are some of the other films he has appeared in. Acting roles included “The Big Wedding,” “Killing Season,” and “The Family” in 2013. Last Vegas, American Hustle, Grudge Match, Motel, Hands of Stone, and The Irishman are just a few of his upcoming releases.
