On the 17th of November, 1960 finds RuPaul Andre Charles was brought into the world in San Diego, California. RuPaul went to Atlanta with his sister when he was 15 years old in order to pursue a career in the performing arts. In the 1980s, he started working as a bar dancer at a place called the “Celebrity Club,” which was the beginning of his fight to become a musician and an actor.


He also performed as a backup vocalist for drag queen Vaginal Davis and Glen Meadmore throughout their respective careers. In order to launch his career as a musician, he established a band that they called “Wee Wee Pole.”

He contributed to the making of the independent film “Starrbooty,” which had a modest budget.
RuPaul began his career as a solo performer in the 1990s when he began appearing at different nightclubs in New York City. In addition to that, he appeared with Nashom Benjamin in the science-fiction satire titled “My Pet Homo.”

Following his participation in the documentary titled “Wigstock: The Movie,” he went on to star in the television series titled “Manhattan Cable.

After that, he released “Back to My Roots” and “A Shade Shady,” both of which reached number one on the “Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play” list. In the wake of his meteoric rise to fame, ‘MAC’ cosmetics offered RuPaul a contract to model for the company, so establishing him as the world’s first drag queen supermodel.

In 1994, he made his debut in the film “Crooklyn,” which was directed by Spike Lee. Earlier in his career, he had a small role in the low-budget picture ‘RuPaul Is: Starbooty!,’ which is also referred to as ‘Starrbooty.’ He had roles in a number of different television series, including “Sister Sister” and “In the House.”

In 1996, he became the presenter of his very own talk show, titled “The RuPaul Show,” which was shown on “VH1.” On the program, he had interviews with famous people including Cyndi Lauper, Pat Benatar, Pete Burns, and Diana Ross, among others.

During the same time period, he also worked as a co-host on the radio show “WKTU” with Michelle Visage. RuPaul devoted an episode to discussing homosexuals and the so-called “LGBT” community.

His subsequent album, titled “Foxy Lady,” was not successful in climbing to the top of any significant music charts after its release. In 2004, he released his second studio album, titled “Red Hot.” Early on, the record did not get much recognition, and as a result, RuPaul voiced his dissatisfaction with the entertainment business, particularly the homosexual press.

Despite this, the album was once again on top of the dance charts in the United States, and the song “Looking Good, Feeling Gorgeous” reached number 2 on those charts. The year 2006 saw the publication of his first album of remixes, titled ‘ReWorked.’

In 2008, he began production on his reality TV game series, titled “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” in which a group of seasoned judges was tasked with choosing the “drag superstar of America.” 2009 was the year that the program first aired. This was the moment when “RuPaul” really broke through in the business, as he became well-known for his unwavering support of the “LGBT” community at the same time.

The success of the program resulted in the production of two spin-offs: “RuPaul’s Drag U” (which aired from 2010 to 2012) and “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” (2012–present). In 2011, he released his sixth studio album, titled “Glamazon.”

His second album, titled “Born Naked,” was published in 2014 and quickly rose to the number four slot on the “US Billboard” dance chart after its first release. Other notable albums released by him include ‘Realness’ (2015), ‘Slay Belles’ (2015), ‘Butch Queen’ (2016), ‘Remember Me: Essential, Vol. 1’ (2017), ‘Remember Me: Essential, Vol. 2’ (2017), and ‘American’ (2017). In the 1990s, he had guest appearances on a number of critically acclaimed television series, including “Nash Bridges” (1996) and “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch” (1998). In addition, he was in episodes of “Ugly Betty” in 2010, “Mystery Girls” in 2014, “The Muppets” in 2016, “2 Broke Girls” in 2017, and “Girlboss” in 2017.

As a judge, he has participated in television programs such as “Project Runway” (2008) and “The Face” (2014). In addition to that, he is famous for presenting the game show “Gay for Play Game Show Starring RuPaul” on television (2016). As an actor, RuPaul has been seen in movies including “But I’m a Cheerleader” (1999), “The Truth About Jane” (2000), “Dangerous Liaisons” (2005), “Another Gay Sequel: Gays Gone Wild” (2008).
