Sam Harris Biography and Career:

Samuel Benjamin Harris is a writer, neuroscientist, philosopher, blogger, and podcast presenter. He is also a critic of religious beliefs. He is the chief executive officer of the well-known non-profit organization Project Reason, which works to advance scientific inquiry and secular values. On the other hand, after his second year, he uprooted his life and traveled to Nepal and India, where he spent the next eleven years learning to meditate from Hindu and Buddhist gurus. Harris returned to Stanford in 1997 and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy in 2000.

After some time, he decided to become a student at the University of California, Los Angeles, from where he graduated with a Ph.D. in cognitive neuroscience in 2009. Sam Harris married his wife, the editor Annaka Harris, in 2004. The pair currently has two daughters between them. He has a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and is trained in many forms of martial arts (MA). He gives out a sizeable amount of the proceeds from selling each new chapter of his podcast to various charity organizations.
