Sergio Ramos Biography and Career:
The ace Spanish footballer Sergio Ramos is the captain of Spain’s national football team and the Spanish club ‘Real Madrid.’ He is also a former captain of the United States national football team. In modern football, he is one of the most powerful defenders available, despite the fact that he can also play as a right back on occasion. Sergio was born and reared in Andalusia, Spain, and began his professional football career as a defender for a local team, ‘Sevilla FC,’ when he was 14 years old.
Having shown himself, he was finally promoted to the first team of his club. In 2005, ‘Real Madrid’ purchased him as a result of his outstanding achievements. For the first several years after his move, he failed to make an impact, and his performances were mainly below average. His best year was 2009, when he reached the pinnacle of his career. Because he was a defender, his goal tally was not very impressive, but his defence abilities earned him a place among the Real Madrid captains for the 2009–2010 season, when he was one of four captains. It was announced in July 2011 that his contract would be extended through 2017, and it was then extended in 2015 to include the year 2020.
Sergio Ramos was born on March 30, 1986, in Camas, Seville, to José Maria Ramos and Paqui Ramos. He is the son of José Maria Ramos and Paqui Ramos. The city of Seville was well-known for its bullfighting heritage. Every other kid from the city had aspired to be a bullfighter as a youngster. Sergio was no exception to this rule. In spite of his enthusiasm for football, he had ambitions to become a bullfighter.
His parents discouraged him from pursuing a bullfighting career since it was a risky activity. He grew up with two siblings, a brother and a sister, and was quickly persuaded out of it by his parents. Sergio’s older brother, Rene, who also happens to be his current manager, was the one who first introduced him to football, and he quickly became attracted to it.
Sergio’s parents were pleased with his decision and backed him by employing a private trainer on his behalf. A football team called FC Camas had recruited Sergio as a youngster, and the experience turned out to be a valuable learning experience for him as a young man. It was at the club when his true abilities were discovered. He received several ‘Man of the Match’ accolades and received some media notice as well.
At the age of 14, he was signed by the local team ‘Sevilla FC,’ which was known for attracting young, bright players to the area. Sergio became a member of the club’s youth programme. His inclusion into the main team came about in 2004, and he went on to have a long and fruitful professional career ahead of him.
The 2004–2005 season saw him feature in 41 games for his club ‘Sevilla FC,’ helping them to finish in sixth place overall in the league. As a result, he was qualified for the ‘UEFA Cup,’ in which he scored his first professional goal against ‘CD Nacional,’ as well. His outstanding performance garnered him several plaudits and ensured that he would be promoted to the big leagues.
When he was younger, Sergio made an immediate impression on the national ‘Under-21’ squad, where he appeared in six international matches. A friendly encounter against China in March 2005 marked his international main squad debut, and he was instrumental in helping his side to win. On addition, he became the youngest player to gain a spot in Spain’s national team in the country’s 55-year history.
He has represented Spain in three ‘World Cups,’ in 2006, 2010, and 2014. He has also represented his country in the Olympics. In addition, he has competed in three ‘Euro Cups,’ in 2008, 2012, and 2016 respectively. Sergio has scored 13 goals in 149 appearances for the Spanish national team.
Soon after, ‘Real Madrid’ were interested in Sergio and eventually purchased him for a record 27 million Euros. The transaction was completed in March 2005. In December of that year, he scored his first goal in a UEFA Championship League group stage encounter against FC Porto. His team was defeated by a single goal, but his effort was lauded nevertheless.
Real Madrid did not provide him with the success he had hoped for in his first four seasons at the club. Mostly, he played as a defensive midfielder or as a centre defender, with the latter position being his strong suit. It didn’t take long for him to be promoted to the right back position, which boosted his opportunities to score goals. However, Sergio had no such difficulties scoring goals from his defensive position, unlike the majority of other defenders. A lot of people were quite taken aback by this. In his first four seasons, he scored a total of 20 goals.
His aggression on the field, on the other hand, continued to be a source of worry for the team’s management throughout the games. In the first season alone, he received four red cards, and in the next three seasons, he received a total of five additional red cards. In August 2008, ‘Real Madrid’ through a sad period in which they were down to nine players on the pitch for an extended period of time.
Sergio had a difficult start to the 2008–2009 season as well, but the squad eventually found its stride and began to dominate the competition.
