Sung Kang Biography and Career:
American actor Sung-Ho Kang was born on April 8, 1972. He played the character of Han Lue in the Fast & Furious franchise for the first time in the film Better Luck Tomorrow (2002). In the television show Power, Kang also portrayed John Mak.
Kang was born to South Korean immigrants in Clarkston, Georgia, before the family relocated to Gainesville, Georgia. His African American stepfather and Korean mother raised him. While still a high school student, he relocated to Barstow, California. University of California, Riverside was where Kang studied.
Due to their worries about the dearth of Asian Americans on American television and the lack of career opportunities, his parents were disappointed when he decided to pursue acting instead of law school when he was still in college.
He played the distant gang member Han Lue in the 2002 film Better Luck Tomorrow, which was his first significant role. He played Sam Kim in The Motel, one of the show’s stars. He played Han Lue in the Fast and the Furious movie series, showing up in Fast & Furious and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.
Han was initially viewed as a one-off in an almost straight-to-DVD release, but Justin Lin, the director, convinced him to return. Han subsequently made appearances in Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6, F9, and the short film Los Bandoleros, which made him a fan favourite.
He also acted as an FBI agent in Jet Li’s 2007 movie War, and he played Doran, a son of Genghis Khan, in the movie Forbidden Warrior. He starred opposite Sylvester Stallone as Detective Taylor Kwon in Walter Hill’s 2013 film Bullet to the Head.
He also had a tiny part in the action film Live Free or Die Hard.In the Korean drama spoof “Tae Do (Attitudes and Feelings, Both Desirable and Sometimes Secretive)” on MADtv, Kang co-starred with Bobby Lee as the narcissistic President Gin Kew Yun Chun Yew Nee.
In the brief run of the crime drama Gang Related on FOX, he played FBI Agent Tae Kim. He is fluent in Korean, which was a requirement for both jobs. Chris Morgan, who had previously worked on the Fast & Furious film series, created Tae Kim expressly for him.
The videos for the podcast with the same name are hosted on Kang’s “Sung’s Garage” YouTube channel, which he created in January 2020. Kang attributes the public outcry and the return of Han Lue to the Fast and the Furious series to reporter Jen Yamato of the Los Angeles Times and her #JusticeForHan social media campaign.
In F9, Kang played Han once more (2021). Kang played the role of Fifth Brother in the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi in 2022. In the movie “The Motel,” he also portrayed one of the leads, Sam Kim. As well as winning the Humanities Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, this movie received a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature.

Likewise, it was via his role in “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift” that he first became familiar with Japanese drifting culture.
In addition, he began his investigation and expanded his knowledge of this popular sport that has gained worldwide popularity. This movie rekindled his long-dormant interest for automobiles, much to how he learned to fix old cars by watching his elderly neighbour.
