Teairra Mari was born in Detroit, Michigan, on December 2, 1987, and she inherited her grandmother’s love of music. Teairra developed a passion for music despite the fact that she was a relatively unknown performer.

Teairra began creating Second Round, her second album, in 2006. Although production was halted in the middle of the album, the first single, “Play Me,” was supposed to be released in the autumn. Before she graduated from high school, she got a call from her label letting her know that she was being dropped.
