Terry Gross Biography and Career:

Terry Gross was born in Brooklyn and raised in the Sheepshead Bay district of the borough. He is the second child of Anne (Abrams), a stenographer, and Irving Gross, who worked in the family millinery business, selling fabric to millinery designers. She grew up in a Jewish family, and all of her grandparents were immigrants, her father’s parents from Tarnów, Poland, and her mother’s parents from the Russian Empire.
